Is the Chevrolet Corvette the Ultimate Dad Car?
What is a “Dad Car?” Also, what are “Dad Shoes?” Placing the term “Dad” in front of various things makes us think of the cars, shoes, style, and mannerisms associated with the men in our lives who spend more time raising kids and leading families than worrying about style. Still, some shoes and cars are part of the mix because they tend to be the items that dads tend to love. With that in mind, let’s see if the Chevrolet Corvette is on the list of Dad cars.
What are Dad Cars?
Which cars can make you the coolest dad on the block? Let’s turn to a few publications for some advice. According to an Edmunds forum, some of the coolest dad cars are:

- Audi S4
- BMW 5 Series
- Cadillac Escalade
- Infiniti FX

So far, no Corvette in the mix. Let’s see what the team at Car.com has to say. Their top ten dad cars are :

Well, that’s strike two for the Chevrolet Corvette. Maybe this iconic sports car shows up on the CarBuzz list. Here’s their list:

Strike three, you’re out! Why doesn’t the Corvette appear as a dad car on any of these lists?
What are Dad Shoes?
Shoes considered popular with married men over 50 are considered Dad Shoes. Some top names are the Nike Air Monarchs and various New Balance models. Esquire lists these two names at the top.
One of my sons recently noticed my new Nike Air Monarchs and my Dad’s New Balance sneakers and commented that we have the shoes and now need the Corvette’s. I’m still unsure what this means, but I took it to mean that we should have Dad Cars because we both wear classic Dad Shoes. That said, the Corvette isn’t listed as a Dad Car on any of the lists above. I’m beginning to wonder why.
Is the Chevrolet Corvette a Dad Car?
Just because the three publications don’t list the Corvette doesn’t make it any less a Dad Car. The idea of a car that fits this description costs more than most, has good performance, and shows the cool side of a person over the age of 50. The Chevrolet Corvette certainly fits this description, but maybe the Corvette isn’t the “Ultimate Dad Car.”
