Carjacker Being Chased by Cops in Philadelphia Ends up Stealing One of Their Police Cars
In a scene like something out of an action movie, a man was arrested after allegedly carjacking a woman, leading Philadelphia cops on a chase, then stealing one of the police officers’ cruisers.
It all began when the 21-year-old man, according to police, pulled a gun on a woman and took her black Chevrolet SUV. Unfortunately for the carjacker, the SUV was equipped with OnStar navigation. Using that GPS, with assistance from a helicopter, police tracked the stolen vehicle.
As is the case with almost all police chases, the car thief ended up crashing the stolen SUV. Rather than give up the fight, the carjacker then chose to flee on foot with police officers still in pursuit.
The suspect boldly stole one of the police cruisers that was chasing him
Showing next-level audacity, the car thief noticed as he doubled back to the scene that one of the police cruisers abandoned by an officer in pursuit was empty. So he jumped in the cop car and took off, again.
He then led officers on a second wild chase. This one ended when the carjacker dumped the stolen cruiser and again fled on foot into a home’s backyard.
However, not only was a police helicopter able to track the man, but CBS News Chopper 3 was flying over the scene as well while officers searched the backyard.
The carjacker was eventually corralled, and no one was injured in the wild chase. Police reported that the stolen cruiser was also unharmed. The suspect was reportedly charged with armed carjacking, theft, fleeing, and illegal firearm possession.
