A California car dealership, Platinum Motor Group, is accusing a tire shop of scamming its business out of hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars.

Fontana Tires Complete Auto & Collision Repair, a local shop owned by Diego Alba, has drawn intense scrutiny after the @drivepmg TikTok account posted a video sharing a recent experience with the shop.

The TikTok has garnered 540,000 views, with many people questioning the tire company’s other business practices and “scammy” pricing.

Confronting Fontana Tires In-Person

In the TikTok, one of the dealership’s salesmen made accusations that the tire shop installed four used tires instead of brand-new ones that Platinum Motor Group requested.

The car salesman went inside the tire shop to confront Alba, inadvertently running into another employee who tried to help him.

There, he discussed the fact that Alba had improperly installed the tires, did not balance or rotate them, and reinstalled at least one original tire that the car came with.

After service was done, he salesman noticed after a late-night service that all of the “brand new” tires he received were used. He noticed one of the tires was obviously a tire that came with the vehicle before the service.

When he arrived, he found an employee who witnessed the scam that night. The car salesman asked the employee to call Alba.

The employee told him that it wouldn’t be possible to call Alba.

“ You guys put the same tire that I drove in with [on the vehicle]… and then you guys put used different tires. He said I was getting new tires,” the salesman confronted.

He additionally confronted the employed about the tires not being rotated.

The Employee Spills The Tea

The employee then explained that Alba was doing the service on the vehicle Platinum Motor Group brought in at night. This is because he does not pay any of his workers overtime. But, the salesman thought it was because Alba was trying to swindle him.

“He’s the one that insisted on me doing it at nighttime maybe cause it was dark,”  the salesman told the employee.

“He wanted me to do it so maybe I wouldn’t see.  And then he lied about his name and everything. He gave me a different name. I already found out who he is,” the salesman speculated.

The salesman said he would wait for Alba to show up at the shop to make things right. However, the employee revealed even more shocking information.

Alba made employees there that night pretend to install four tires. But, the employees directly told the car salesman that they had only installed two.

That’s not all. Later, the employee exposed the fact that Alba may be breaking labor laws with his overtime practices.

One final straw included the salesman mentioning later in the comments he also had to cancel his debit card. As Alba allegedly charged his card in an “illegal” way.

“The credit card processor he used showed up as an ATM withdrawal, not his business name. Chase said that didn’t add up and that my information was compromised,” he wrote in a TikTok comment.

Other Issues At Fontana Tires

It turns out, other people have had significant issues with Fontana Tires. One viewer recounted a recent experience with the company, saying that they didn’t install all of the lug nuts on the car.

“I went there before to throw wheel spacers on and came to find out they didn’t put all the lug nuts on,” one shared.

“They got my poor grandpa as well,” one TikTok commenter added.

Multiple reviews on Yelp mentions that Fontana Tires are full of scammers and be wary.

“I visited here to replace my car tire. He replaced the tire with the different size. Now my car is completely [expletive] up. He is a scammer. Zero star,” one Yelp reviewer posted.

“This business has unscrupulous practices. Diego, the owner attempted to double charge me for work on my radiator,” another shared.

“I have experienced this business intentionally scamming customers with overpriced quotes for service,” a third added.
