If you’re looking for a reliable car brand, you’re in luck. These six 2022 and 2023 vehicles came out as the most reliable car models when ranked by experts.

1. Toyota Corolla Hybrid one of the most reliable car models

According to USA Today, you can find some interesting trends in the reliability rankings. Among them, Asian automakers outranked European and U.S. ones in reliability. And hybrids outperformed all other vehicle categories in this category.

So it’s little surprise that the vehicle with the highest reliability score is the 2023 Toyota Corolla Hybrid. Further, with an inexpensive starting MSRP of just $21,550, an impressive combined fuel economy of 48 mpg, intuitive controls, and a comfortable ride, the Corolla Hybrid is an excellent choice in the segment. It may not be the flashiest, but it’s affordable, with low long term-ownership costs and robust advanced safety systems.

2. Lexus GX

The runner-up on the list, the 2023 Lexus GX, is a very reliable mid-size SUV. It’s not a hybrid, but it is well-equipped with a 4.6-liter V8 engine that performs and handles quite well. And while it’s not very fuel efficient, clocking in at a combined 17 mpg, it offers a smooth ride and plenty of advanced safety systems and tech amenities.

As a befitting luxury vehicle, you’ll pay a premium. Starting at $56,425, you’ll nevertheless find plenty of headroom, legroom, and cargo space. The interior styling helps justify the premium pricing. But the GX is also a capable off-roader, with a tow rating of 6,500 pounds and multiple off-road driving features.

Most importantly, in this respect, reported component issues have been minimal. So you can navigate difficult terrain in the GX, assured in the knowledge that it can take some wear and tear without breaking the bank.

3. Mini Cooper

The only non-Asian auto brand in the top five, the 2023 Mini Cooper also offers prospective buyers the promise of reliability and dependability.

It’s affordable too. With a starting MSRP of just $27,400, you can get a lot of driving enjoyment and value from this model Mini. It offers commendable performance and handling, combined fuel efficiency numbers of 31 mpg, and a well-laid-out interior.

The Mini Cooper is not a car for taller drivers or passengers. It also doesn’t offer much in the way of standard advanced safety systems. But if you’re fine with both, the Mini Cooper does offer competitive tech amenities, including a head-up display, an 8.8-inch touchscreen, and wireless charging.

4. Toyota Prius is one of the most reliable car models

The pioneering Prius retains Toyota’s trademark reliability while offering owners excellent performance, fuel efficiency, and features in its hatchback frame. With a 1.8-liter engine and electric drive combination that generates 121 hp, it’s not the most powerful hatchback. However, the Prius also gets an incredible combined 52 mpg.

The 2022 version also offers a more refined interior than previous generations, with improved padding. There’s also plenty of head, leg, and knee room for drivers and passengers. There’s also a generous amount of cargo space: 27.4 cu-ft, to be precise.

The Prius also offers a straightforward touchscreen, voice commands, and Toyota Safety Sense. Safety Sense is Toyota’s robust suite of advanced safety systems that can help keep repair costs low by mitigating the risk of accidents.

5. Mazda MX-5 Miata

It may be surprising that a roadster made this list, as the segment is not renowned for its reliability. But it’s probably less surprising that the roadster in question is a Mazda.

With a starting price of $27,650, the MX-5 Miata is an affordable entry into this vehicle segment. It performs and handles well, thanks to a lightweight frame and 181-hp producing engine. It can hit 60 mph in 6.7 seconds and gets a combined 34 mpg using premium fuel.

The MX-5 Miata’s interior is well-adorned with stylish trim, but as a roadster, you’re not going to get the most accessible or comfortable ride, especially if you’re tall. That said, the Miata also does come with easy-to-use controls and the kind of infotainment features you’d expect to find standard in most new vehicles.

6. Lincoln Corsair

The sixth most reliable model on the list is the 2023 Lincoln Corsair, which is somewhat unexpected. Asian brands have dominated the list, and as a newer U.S. model, you wouldn’t naturally expect the Corsair to place as high as it has.

The new Corsair is very, very reliable. It also offers great performance, courtesy of the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder or 2.3-liter turbocharged engine options. The Corsair also gets a combined 23 mpg, which is respectable for the segment.

Lincoln also equipped the 2023 model with an intuitive control system for its advanced safety systems that can help owners take full advantage. And quite a few of these systems come standard with every Corsair, keeping drivers safe and repair costs down.
