Love it or hate it, the Toyota Prius is probably not going anywhere any time soon, and for good reason. Toyota has sold well over 6 million Prii globally to date because let’s face it, people want a car that can get over 50 mpg reliably while carrying their families, friends, and all the cargo that comes with them. The Toyota Prius has been one of the most important, popular, and unpopular cars in the automotive spectrum for the past 20 years, and here are five reasons that you need one in your life.

It’s extremely fuel-efficient

This one goes without saying but just think about the last time you had a car sitting in your garage that could get 50 mpg in combined driving. Maybe, never? Considering gas prices might increase at any point, wouldn’t it be good to have a car that you only had to fill up every two weeks, or perhaps, just once a month? In that case, the Toyota Prius is easily one of the best choices that you can make if fuel-efficiency is what you need. According to the EPA, the 2021 Prius is able to get up 54 mpg in the city and 50 mpg when cruising on the highway.

It’s OK to drive slow in a Prius

Have you ever driven behind someone driving slowly in a Toyota Prius and had the urge to roll down your window and yell at them to go faster? Sure, we all have. But if you buy a Prius, you can now be that person! And no, we don’t mean that you should drive slow and unsafely, however, if you do catch yourself driving slow (in the right lane), no one will bat an eye or care. After all, you’re the “Prius driver” now.

It’s OK to drive fast in a Prius

On the flip side, it’s also OK to drive fast in a Toyota Prius. In fact, the whole world will appreciate it if you do buy a Prius and at the very least drive the speed limit at all times. While we don’t condone breaking the speed limit, again, no one will really bat an eye if you do it in a Prius. In fact, you may even get a “thumbs up” from other people on the road. We make no promises though.

The Prius is practical

The Toyota Prius is able to carry five people in relative comfort and, thanks to its handy hatchback shape, it’s able to carry all of their stuff too. Do you have car seats and other stuff to throw in there too? No problem! The Toyota Prius’ practical shape can do it all, for the most part.

The Prius is now available in all-wheel-drive

Do you need a capable car that can drive over some lightly rough terrain? In that case, you can always opt for the Prius AWD. That’s right, the fuel-efficient hybrid car that you’ve known and loved is now available with an all-wheel-drivetrain and can traverse some light off-road paths. There’s almost no need to buy a crossover, the 2021 Toyota Prius AWD can do it all.
