What is better than buying a new luxury sedan? Buying a used one that won’t break your $20,000 budget. Depreciation hits the luxury segment hard, and the editors at Kelley Blue Book know this. As such, they put together a list of the 10 best mid-size luxury sedans under $20,000. Here are five of our favorite highlights from that list that we can wholeheartedly recommend.

1. 2014 Lexus ES

Buyers looking for a sensible and spacious sedan that’s filled with the plushness and amenities they would expect from a luxury car can easily stop at the Lexus ES. Kelley Blue Book noted that the 2014 ES cabin has a “design that’s sophisticated yet logical and easy to figure out.” That’s only part of the Lexus ES’ panache as its elegant styling, smooth engine, and available hybrid powertrain are strong points as well. Not to mention its unrelenting reliability.

2. 2015 Acura TLX

The Acura TLX was brand-new for the 2015 model year. It replaced the aging Acura TL and TSX as the brand’s mid-level sedan and brought out plenty of advanced tech features. Some of those features included four-wheel steering, Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD), and a dual-clutch 8-speed automatic transmission. As KBB stated, the TLX is “luxurious and tech-forward.”

3. 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

When looking for a 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class, you’ll find a choice between a coupe, sedan, or wagon. No matter which body style you choose, you can rest assured that you’re getting a solid, reliable, and sophisticated car that can even elevate your social status, at least in your mind. Imaginary clout aside, the Mercedes E-Class boasts a quiet and comfortable cabin and a robust collection of engines, which includes a V6 hybrid engine.

4. 2016 Hyundai Genesis

If you don’t care about having a prestigious badge on the hood of your luxury sedan, the 2016 Hyundai Genesis is a great choice. Despite not having the same reputation as its German rivals, this upscale Hyundai is the one that started its premium Genesis brand, and it shows.

The Genesis exudes the same type of contemporary styling and comfort that you can find in an Audi, but for a fraction of the cost. It’s an ethos that has worked for the South Korean automaker for nearly a decade.

5. 2015 Infiniti Q70

The 2015 Infiniti Q70 offers buyers a sporty ride with its responsive steering and handling in its entry-level short wheelbase form. Opting for the Q70 L – the long wheelbase model – will get you around 5.6 more inches of leg room and a lot of comfort. The best part is that you can find either version on the used market for less than $20,000.

The best used luxury sedans in 2022

Just because these sedans were made almost 10 years ago, it doesn’t mean they’re any less comfortable than what you can find today. Sure, they may lack some of the fancy convenience features you can find in a new luxury car. But the depreciated cost and extra dollars in your bank account will surely make you not care in the long run.
