The Grand Highlander is an entirely new three-row Toyota SUV for the 2024 model year.

As its name suggests, it’s meant to serve as a larger and even more family-friendly version of the perennially popular Highlander. Like the Highlander, it rides on a unibody design. It differs from the truck-ish characteristics of the Toyota Sequoia and 4Runner and will likely ride more similarly to the Sienna minivan.

Here are a few truths about the 2024 Grand Highlander ahead of its arrival this summer.

1. It’s bigger than the Highlander

The Grand Highlander will be larger than the existing three-row Highlander SUV and will serve as Toyota’s largest crossover SUV.

Toyota has implied that the Grand Highlander will be longer, taller, and wider than the Highlander. That should mean more passenger and cargo space. Although we have yet to get exact specs for passenger volume, MotorTrend says the SUV will have about 98 cubic feet of cargo space. That’s more than the Highlander but slightly less than the Sienna.

2. It has a more powerful hybrid powertrain

The Toyota Grand Highlander will boast an available hybrid system that outpaces the Highlander Hybrid in terms of power.

According to MotorTrend, the Grand Highlander will offer the Hybrid Max powertrain as an option. It’s the same powertrain as the Crown Platinum and has an impressive 362 horsepower.

3. It won’t be available until 2024

Toyota has stated that the new Grand Highlander won’t be available until 2024.

Toyota released initial images and details about the Grand Highlander in early 2023 – a full year before its actual availability. As a result, we’re left to analyze the facts given and speculate about how the Grand Highlander will pan out in reality.

We don’t know how much the 2024 Grand Highlander will cost

One of the critical variables that we don’t know about the 2024 Grand Highlander is its cost.

Toyota hasn’t released pricing information for any of the Grand Highlander trims. So, all we can do is make educated guesses.

It’s safe to assume that the Grand Highlander will have a higher starting price than the 2023 Toyota Highlander. According to Toyota, that model has a starting price of $36,620. The Grand Highlander will likely start closer to $40,0000.

Whatever its price, we’re looking forward to seeing the 2024 Grand Highlander in person and evaluating its real-world merits.
