The Electrified GV70 is the latest EV to join the Genesis lineup for 2023. Yes, “Electrified GV70” is a long nameplate, but it delineates this version from the regular gas-powered one. I’ve spent some time with the GV70 EV and found that there’s a lot to like about it. It’s elegantly styled inside and out, immensely comfortable, and super powerful. Despite all of this luxurious EV goodness, there were a couple of points to complain about. Here is a small list of pros and cons that I drummed up about the Electrified GV70.

Pro: The 2023 Genesis Electrified GV70 has a powerful dual-motor system

The 2023 Genesis Electrified GV70 comes standard in an all-wheel drive configuration. Two motors make up the AWD system – a 160-kW motor up front and one in the rear – and put out a combined 429 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque That’s an insane amount of power for a small SUV, especially since it comes on instantaneously. However, I can’t complain because it makes getting onto the freeway and passing other cars quick, easy, and a lot of fun.

Con: The GV70’s electric range is average

The EPA says that the Genesis Electrified GV70 can reach 236 miles of range. Considering we live in a world where some EVs have surpassed the 300-mile mark, that’s pretty average. During my testing, I hooked the GV70 up to a public level 2 charger to top off the charge. Interestingly, the range read “250” when it was done. However, it quickly dropped. Either way, it would be much better if this thing could get over 300 miles.

Pro: The Genesis GV70 has all of the tech features you could want

Sit inside the Genesis GV70 EV, and you’re sure to be blown away by how swanky its interior looks. Looking a little closer, you’ll notice the massive 14.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system, the chic-looking dual-zone climate controls, and the 12.3-inch digital instrument panel. The front seats have heat and ventilation, and the rear outboard seats are also heated. Ultimately, the GV70 EV has all of the tech features that you could want in a small SUV.

Con: The Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity is wired

Did I mention that the Genesis Electrified GV70 also has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto? It does. But it’s too bad the connectivity isn’t wireless. I know, it’s a small thing to complain about, but considering the car costs $74,350, I would think wireless connectivity isn’t too much of a stretch.

Pro: Two words – Boost Mode!

I previously mentioned that the dual-motor system puts out 429 hp. However, if you push the little button on the bottom of the steering that says “Boost,” the system will unleash up to 489, which equates to sub four-second 0-60 mph times. It’s insanely fast and somewhat unnecessary, but it’s so much fun!

The 2023 Genesis Electrified GV70 is a small crossover EV that’s worth a look

Everything considered, the 2023 Genesis Electrified GV70 is a fun, fancy, and well-sorted EV crossover. Anyone in the market for a small luxury two-row SUV should definitely check it out. Fortunately, the list of cons is very small.
