One of the safest SUVs on the market is from Honda. The brand has a few sport utility vehicles in its lineup, its CR-V model offers a safe driving experience at an affordable price. What car safety features does it have, and how much will it cost?

2024 Honda CR-V trim levels

The 2024 Honda CR-V offers two types of models. There are gasoline-only versions and hybrid models. You get a 1.5-liter engine producing 190 hp and 179 lb-ft of torque. Paired with it is a continuously variable automatic transmission. As for fuel economy ratings, you can expect 28 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway. For the AWD version, you get 27/32 mpg (city/highway).

The hybrid models come with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder combined with a two-motor electrical system, which generates a total of 204 hp. The fuel economy for this model is 43 mpg on city roads and 36 mpg when traveling on the highway. For the AWD versions, you get 40/34 mpg (city/highway).

In total, there are six trim levels to choose from. These include:

LX – For $29,500, you get 17-inch wheels, a three-driving mode system (Economy, Normal, Snow), automatic climate control, and a seven-inch infotainment touchscreen.

EX – This model begins at $32,010 and gets you 18-inch wheels, rear privacy glass, a one-touch moonroof, and dual-zone automatic climate control.

2024 Honda CR-V safety features that come standard with each trim level

All 2024 Honda CR-V trims come with a long list of features that you get standard.

LX

According to Honda, the base model offers plenty of features to make your vehicle safe, but here are a few that are included:

  • Collision mitigation braking system
  • Traffic jam assist
  • Lane-departure warning
  • Forward collision warning
  • Traffic sign recognition system
  • Driver attention monitor
  • Rear seat reminder
  • Tire-pressure monitoring system

EX

This model offers almost the same features as the base version. It does add two new items to the list. You get a Cross Traffic Monitor and Blind-Spot Information System.

Sport Hybrid

This version offers many of the same features as the LX and EX models. It adds an Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System, which will alert pedestrians nearby that an electric vehicle is coming their way, so they can stay safe.

EX-L

With the EX-L, you add parking sensors and low-speed braking control to the same list of features offered by the previous models.

Sport-L Hybrid and Sport Touring

These models offer the same as the EX-L, except both offer the acoustic vehicle alerting system, which the EX-L doesn’t.

Are there any available 2024 Honda CR-V safety or driver’s assistance features?

With a long list of safety features already standard on the CR-V, could there be any items that are available to add to your purchase? According to U.S. News, there are a few driver’s assistance items you can opt-in to with your Honda SUV. Those include:

  • Rear cross-traffic alert
  • Low-speed reverse automatic emergency braking
  • Front and rear parking sensors
  • Reverse collision warning
  • Blind-spot monitoring

You’ll need to check what each trim offers because some of these are offered as standard on the higher models.

The 2024 Honda CR-V is one of a handful, it seems, that comes with a ton of safety features already standard on many of its models. If you’re looking for a safe vehicle that you can get for an affordable price, the CR-V would be the way to go.
