The 2022 Ford Maverick is unlike any truck that came before it. The Maverick is Ford’s first standard hybrid truck. Its standard hybrid powertrain isn’t the only thing unique about the Maverick. Here’s everything you need to know about the Ford Maverick Flexbed.

The Ford Maverick Flexbed is perfect for DIY

Calling the Ford Maverick Flexbed the perfect truckbed is a bold statement. The Flexbed may not be the perfect truck bed, but it is surely the most customizable truck bed on the market. Ford realized that it had to offer more utility with the Maverick to compensate for the lack of power.

The Maverick can’t tow as much as its older cousin, the Ford Ranger. It can’t carry a payload as heavy. Its hybrid powertrain and truck bed are where the 2022 Ford Maverick shines.

According to Business Insider, the Flexbed is the Ford Maverick’s coolest feature. The magic of the Flexbed comes from pre-threaded holes that Ford built into the truck bed. These holes allow owners to organize the Flexbed to suit their wants and needs by dividing it into sections.

Ford Maverick Flexbed possibilities

The Ford Maverick Flexbed is the ultimate custom truckbed because the possibilities are practically endless. Aside from pre-threaded holes, the Flexbed also includes several horizontal and vertical slots that make customization easy. Owners can simply slide appropriately-sized pieces of wood (or plastic) into the available slots and create sections to either help keep things in place or divvy up space.

Want to throw your mountain bike in the Flexbed for a morning ride? Ford has videos up on YouTube that show you the exact lumber dimensions required for a DIY bike rack. The Maverick even includes content and reading material on how to set up the Flexbed for different scenarios.

Ford has videos on its YouTube channel for making your own bed rail lighting and air compressor space, truck bed side rail, and many other custom Flexbed videos. Vehicle Engineering Specialists at Ford developed the Flexbed by interviewing potential consumers and finding out what they wanted from a truck bed.

The Flexbed was designed to make lifestyle customizations as well as furniture and hardware store runs simple. It is about four and a half feet long and four feet wide. Engineering Specialists collaborated with Engineers and potential consumers to explore how to best design a bed with the Maverick’s dimensions to serve its owners. The end result was a truck bed that offers amazing utility for its size.

The Ford Maverick’s truck bed is small but far from inadequate. Ford realized that many truck owners end up modifying their truck beds to suit their needs. Instead of compromising the size of its compact pickup’s truck bed, Ford instead took the time to pre-modify the Flexbed to suit consumer wants and needs.

The purpose of the Ford Maverick’s Flexbed is to spare consumers the time and energy that it would usually take to modify a truck bed using power tools. Slots and pre-threaded holes may not seem like much…until you have to make them yourself.

Instead of drilling through a truck bed to add more utility, considering buying an affordable new Ford Maverick. If its Flexbed isn’t enough to convince you, its utility combined with the gas mileage that the hybrid powertrain provides creates a unique ownership experience.
