J.D. Power reports that the reliability score for the 2018 Subaru Forester is 85/100. This score takes into account problems such as the level of defects, malfunctions, and design flaws experienced by vehicle owners, which impact the cost of ownership. A higher rating means fewer problems.

Car Complaints reports that the most common problems experienced by owners are windshield and wiper problems, interior accessory problems, and electrical problems. Owners reported that the front windshield reportedly began to crack for no apparent reason. Other owners have stated that the battery drains for no reason as well.

Additionally, the increased horsepower offers better acceleration than the CR-V.
