Electric vehicles have opened up a new world of possibilities for the automotive industry. EVs are capable of extraordinary feats. Electric vehicles can produce incredible amounts of torque immediately, as opposed to gas vehicles that rely on internal combustion. The Tesla Model X Plaid is more powerful than some of the most notable ICE sports car models. It’s even more powerful than the exciting new Ferrari Purosangue.

The Tesla Model X Plaid is one of the most powerful electric vehicles on the planet. Tesla’s first vehicle, the Roadster, was designed to have supercar performance. Tesla CEO Elon Musk is a huge fan of luxury performance automobiles. The Model X is impressive, but its final configuration is on a whole other level.

The 2023 Tesla Model X Plaid makes an astonishing 1,020 horsepower and 1,050 lb-ft of torque. It uses Tesla’s tri-motor all-wheel drive powertrain system. The Model X Plaid is much more powerful than the majority of luxury performance SUV models.

The 2024 Ferrari Purosangue makes 715 horsepower and 528 lb-ft of torque using a 6.5-liter V12. In an age where even V8s are hard to find, the Purosangue makes a huge statement with its powertrain.

Ferrari’s SUV has a power output that’s indisputably impressive, but can it really compare to the Tesla Model X Plaid? The Model X Plaid makes 305 more horses than the Purosangue. It produces a whopping 522 more lb-ft of torque than Ferrari’s first SUV model. The final configuration of Tesla’s midsize SUV makes legendary sports car and supercar nameplates seem weak in comparison. Its power output is truly historic.

Tesla claims that the 2023 Model X Plaid can go from 0-60 miles per hour in just 2.5 seconds. That makes it quicker than impressive SUVs like the Rivian R1S Launch Edition, Aston Martin DBX707, and the Lamborghini Urus Performante. The 2023 Urus Performante goes from 0-60 miles per hour in about 3.0 seconds, which is still impressive, but the Model X Plaid is still quicker.

Tesla’s midsize SUV pushes the envelope in ways that other automakers can’t compete with. The clean energy and electric vehicle company has proven that EVs can be just as powerful (if not more powerful) than the most impressive internal combustion engine vehicles. The craziest part about the Model X Plaid’s performance is that the midsize luxury SUV is actually more affordable than slower vehicles.

The 2023 Tesla Model X Plaid starts at $108,490. It cost $10,000 more than the base Model X configuration. The midsize electric SUV does not qualify for the revised federal electric vehicle tax incentive under the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022.

The Model X Plaid is expensive, but slower, less powerful luxury SUVs can be double or triple its price. Bloomberg claims that the Ferrari Purosangue starts at $393,000. Tesla’s exciting midsize model provides plenty of value for the money.
