Many car manufacturers that produce performance cars on a massive scale have a history in racing. For brands like McLaren, that history is more well known, especially because they have a car named after one of their team’s racing legend, Ayrton Senna. BMW also has quite an impressive background in racing and currently has teams that participate in several circuits. As customers, we can experience BMW’s racing legacy with the brand’s M cars, but you can also travel to the Performance Centers and experience the cars on a whole new level.
The BMW M4 GT4
You may have heard of the rather striking BMW M4, a two-door sports coupe that combines practicality with performance. Among all of the variations, however, you may have missed out on the impressive M4 GT4, the official BMW customer-ready race car. If you’re a fan of the brand’s performance and handling, it might excite you to know that you can now experience this track car first hand at the BMW Performance Center in Thermal, CA.
BMW racing school
Performance brands like BMW and Ferrari offer their elite customers the option to have real, one-on-one training with track professionals. It is an element that strengthens brand loyalty and gives customers a true connection, allowing them to experience their car and other cars from the manufacturer to their fullest potential in a safe and controlled manner. If you’re interested in becoming SCCA certified to hit the race track on your own time, you can get your license through this very program — and, of course, brag to your friends about how you got your SCCA license driving the exquisite BMW M4 GT4.
How much will it cost for the experience?
For such an exclusive experience, I admittedly thought I would be scrolling through a price sheet well out of the realm of possibilities for the average BMW owner. As an avid BMW enthusiast, I was delighted to see that the package itself cost a humble $2,795, which might sound like a lot into you delve into what is included. This price features a full day at the track, complete with an in-classroom session on driving technique followed by track time (with an instructor) in several M series cars, including the M4 GT4.
Prices vary depending on add-on features like private coaching and SCCA licensing but don’t extend very far past the costs of what you would expect to pay for these classes if they were provided elsewhere.
