Toyota dealers are still selling brand new, 2021, Toyota Land Cruisers.

According to GoodCarBadCar, a site that keeps track of new car sales, Toyota dealers moved 17 brand new Land Cruisers this year. Presumably, they still have a few leftovers on the lots, but they are getting scarce.

That is a ton of Land Cruisers to sell because the model was discontinued in 2021. In the month of February, dealers sold five brand new Land Cruisers. The monthly change was -99.12%, which tells you how popular the model was in February of 2021.

The 2021 Land Cruiser may be discontinued, but dealers still have a few on their lots.

The Land Cruiser is one of the most-loved names in the SUV and off-roading worlds. They are known as tough, capable, comfortable large SUVs that can handle seven passengers comfortably, but also some of the toughest off-road trails.

Last year, Toyota dealers sold 1,386 Land Cruisers overall, according to GoodCarBadCar.net.

They are new, but they are also WAY over MSRP

At CarGurus.com dealers are still listing new 2021 Land Crusiers for sale | CarGurus.com

You can find a new 2021 Toyota Land Cruiser, but they’re going to cost you. CarGurus.com, a site that lists new cars available, shows eight are still available at dealers. Brand new.

Though the base MSRP is $87,038, a new white one is listed for sale at $142,750 in Mesa, AZ. There is one in Middleton, R.I., with an unlisted price, and one in Frederick, Colo., with no price and no pictures. At the Toyota of Silver Spring, in Maryland, the dealer has a 2021 Land Cruiser in Midnight Black, listed with the premium audio, heated second-row seats, and the fancy center cooler box. There is no price listed, but you can expect to pay a premium.

The Land Cruiser, especially a brand new one, is rare so expect to pay quite a bit over the MSRP. A search of Autotrader.com shows a handful of used 2021 Land Cruisers available but at investment-grade prices. For example, a 2021 with just 100 miles on the odometer is listed at $135,000.

If you want a 2022 Land Cruiser, your best bet is the Lexus LX 600

The Lexus LX 600 is the Land Cruiser the rest of the word gets, but with more leather and wood.

The Lexus LX 600 is pretty much the same large, capable, SUV but with a posh interior.  For 2022, the LX 600 has a 409 hp twin-turbo V6 instead of the old SUV’s 5.7 liter V8. The old V8 “only” had 383 hp. The new motor, with a new 10-speed automatic, will take the 5,665-pound SUV to 60 mph in about six seconds.

The LX 600 comes in five flavors, from regular luxury in the LX trim for $88,245, to ohh-my-god luxury in the LX Ultra Luxury, for $127,345. The LX Ultra Luxury adds some impressive goodies, like a power-operated rear ottoman, a rear enter armrest and table, rear massaging seats, as well as heated and ventilated second-row captain chairs, which recline up to 48 degrees.

The LX 600 is, however, the Land Cruiser the rest of the world gets underneath all that diamond-stitch leather and open-pore wood (whatever that may be), so you can feel comfortable taking off-road.

Other large luxury SUVs to consider instead of the LX 600

Though they might not have the legendary off-road chops of the Land Cruiser, you can still find some very capable large SUVs that will hall you and your family overland, or to the mall, with ease.

The Cadillac Escalade is almost as recognizable as a Land Cruiser, but more for its ability to transport CEOs and government officials than it is for fording rivers. But, it does have Super Cruise, the new driver assistance technology that can even change lanes safely, and a four-wheel-drive system that can take you places most luxury cars wouldn’t dare to go. You can also outfit the new ‘Slade with either a 6.2-liter V8 with 420 hp, or the 3.0-liter Duramax Turbo Diesel, which has a stump-pulling 460 lb-ft of torque.

The Infinity QX80 can also be ordered as a luxury SUV, but is considerably less expensive. It was redesigned for 2022 and starts at $70,600, but with options can get you to $85,335. It has a 400-hp, 5.6-liter V8 that can be optioned as either a two-wheel or four-wheel drive with leather and wood trim. Much like the Lex’ is the gussied-up Land Cruiser, the QX80 is the premium version of the Nissan Armada, which itself is a capable three-row large SUV that can be ordered with many of the same features as the QX, especially in the Armada Platinum package, which starts at $65,550.

Though the Land Cruiser isn’t being imported to the U.S. anymore, we can still get the same large SUV the world gets, we just get more quilted leather.
