Even a casual motorcycle enthusiast is no doubt familiar with Harley-Davidson. The company’s sales have declined in recent years, leading some to believe that it would go out of business. However, it seems the brand always finds a way to bounce back, partially thanks to its loyal fanbase.

Harley-Davidson has also garnered more attention by teaming up with the Ford Motor Company. In 2000, a high-powered Ford F-150 with Harley-Davidson design elements was released. After almost two decades since original production started, a new Harley-Davidson Ford truck will be available soon. This truck features new color options, performance upgrades, and will be almost twice as expensive as the original.

The history of Harley-Davidson and Ford

The two automakers teamed up to make limited-edition trucks between 2000 and 2012. At the time, the standard F-150 had a 5.4-liter V8 capable of 300 hp. For the Harley-Davidson Edition, Ford used the 411-hp engine as standard in the SVT Lightning trim. Ford ended the partnership in 2012 without a specified reason. However, it’s worth noting that the Harley-Davidson trucks returned low sales compared to the rest of Ford’s lineup.

Oddly enough, even though it sports the blue oval badge, the newest truck isn’t produced by Ford. The 2020 Harley-Davidson F-250 is made by the Tuscany Motor Company, a manufacturer known for producing custom trucks.

The original Harley-Davidson F-150 definitely stands out from a regular model. It sports a coat of glossy black paint, a six-bar chrome grille, and a snakeskin-textured gray decal along the side. The Harley-Davidson badge is displayed proudly under the drivers-side window, on the center console, and even on the truck’s cargo floor.

The truck also has 22-inch wheels, a leather-trimmed interior, and chrome dual-exhaust pipes. The first Harley-Davidson truck is also remarkably fast, even by today’s standards. When MotorTrend tested the truck, it was able to get from 0-60 mph in 6.4 seconds.

How much will it cost?

The Harley-Davidson truck from 2012 only cost $53,300 at the time of its release. Today, you can buy one of these luxury trucks for around $10,000-$25,000 depending on the model year. The 2020 Harley-Davidson F-250 will cost a jaw-dropping $111,185.

This truck is based on the Harley-Davidson Fatboy motorcycle and even comes with custom wheels embossed with the Fatboy logo. The truck also looks flashier than the original thanks to orange accents in the new honeycomb mesh chrome grille. The front bumper also sports an LED light bar. It’s available in three different paint colors: white, gray, and black.

Inside the truck, it has leather seats with the same orange accents that decorate the exterior. Racing pedals and tow hooks are also included. If you’re in the mood for some off-roading, the truck’s 37-inch tires and BDS suspension will definitely make things easier.

One downside is that the Harley-Davidson F-250 will not come with a custom powertrain. However, the Ford F-250 has great engine options already, so this isn’t a huge loss. The 7.3-liter V8 is the most powerful option, capable of producing 430 hp and 475 lb-ft of torque.

Where can I find one?

The newest Harley-Davidson F-250 is expected to go on sale in April. However, it has a very limited production run of only 250 units. Additionally, only selected Ford dealers will have the truck on display on the actual lot.

If you absolutely need the truck for yourself, you can order one directly through Harley-Davidson’s website. Still, do the unique exterior and performance upgrades really justify the price tag of over $111,000? For a diehard Harley-Davidson fan, the answer is probably yes.
