Very few cars come without a long list of complaints, but it appears that the 2011 Subaru Legacy has done the impossible. According to Car Complaints, it’s a great car that has very few things to spoil it. Here’s why the 2011 Subaru Legacy is one of the best used Subarus out there.

The 2011 Subaru Legacy earned the Seal of Awesome award

Very few cars get the Seal of Awesome award from Car Complaints. It’s relatively new as Car Complaints has focused on rating the worst cars over the years. Now the review site is trying to branch out by telling consumers which are the best.

There are only a few cars to have made this very illustrious list. Unsurprisingly, Toyota has the most cars on the list. This shouldn’t come as a shock to anyone, considering that Toyota is one of the most reliable brands out there.

The 2011 Subaru Legacy managed to make the list, however, and it’s easy to see why.

There are a few problems

The 2011 Subaru Legacy is not without its share of problems, but there aren’t a lot of them. In fact, there are only three problems that scored more than one complaint.

The biggest problem revolves around the headlights. 16 people reported that the headlights keep burning out. That doesn’t seem like that big of a deal, but Car Complaints gave it a severity rating of “Pretty Bad,” and with good reason.

Simply replacing the light bulbs isn’t as simple as it would seem. To do so, it requires removing the front wheel or bumper.

The cost of repair is only $150, which isn’t terrible. Until you realize that they must be replaced every six months to a year.

The second biggest complaint was due to transmission failure, and only two people reported an issue. The severity rating was “Really Awful” due to the fact that the CVT transmission must be replaced, and it costs around $7,600 to do so.

The third biggest issue had to do with windshield problems, and there were only two complaints. One was for the moonroof, and the other was because the power windows wouldn’t roll down. There was no info given about how much it cost to repair.

Despite these problems, the 2011 Subaru Legacy is still a great vehicle. The 2020 model is, surprisingly, not, however.

The 2020 Subaru Legacy has a few issues of its own

Despite how great the 2011 Subaru Legacy is, the 2020 Legacy fails to deliver in a few areas. It’s not even a year old yet, and it already has a dangerous recall on it.

The brake pedal mounting bracket was not properly installed, which could lead to a wreck. Subaru repaired the issue with no cost to the owner, but it was still alarming for some people.

Another issue plaguing the 2020 Legacy is the infotainment system. Actions that used to be simple now take several steps to complete, and Consumer Reports was less than pleased.

The engine also isn’t anything to brag about. It comes equipped with a 2.5-liter boxer four-cylinder that produces 182 hp. This is paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission. It’s reportedly hard to accelerate from a dead stop, and it doesn’t have much in the way of speed.

Still, the 2020 model still has more going for it than it does drawbacks. It’s been redesigned for 2020, and there are a lot of new features added that owners love.

All-wheel drive comes standard, and the interior is nice and spacious. It also offers a lot in the way of comfort, which is why it’s considered one of the best road trip vehicles there are.
