The Los Angeles police was in pursuit of a yellow C8 Corvette Stingray when it pulled into a Chevron gas station and stayed there for a long duration. A video of the chase on Instagram showed the length of the supposed fuel stop, during which the police remained absent from the scene.
Sky Fox recorded the ground action from above, which showed the Corvette parked in the filling station for nearly two minutes near the intersection of Sepulveda Boulevard and Del Amo Circle East near Torrance.
Despite the police finally arriving at the scene, with patrol vehicles entering the gas station from the entry and exit points, the Corvette driver managed to escape while trying to put his roof up, suggesting that he was faking it.
Driving down the highway, the driver even managed to stop and put the roof on before speeding away again and eventually making a U-turn. The considerate driver was using his turn signals during the chase. However, the U-turn put an end to the run, as the Corvette hit traffic ahead at a stoplight.

The driver tried escaping by driving over the pavement, but ended up getting stuck after damaging another car and hitting a tree. With patrol vehicles right on his tail, the desperate driver tried his best to escape, given the smoke coming from the tires.
Realizing that he was going nowhere with that stuck Corvette, the driver raised his hand as a sign of surrender. Apart from speeding, officials failed to confirm what the suspect was wanted for.
A report by Fox Los Angeles revealed that the suspect in the Corvette drove through parts of Compton, Downey, Long Beach, and Norwalk before crashing near Torrance. Officials told the news outlet that the chase began in Santa Ana in Orange County.
