The worst parts about owning a Hyundai Santa Cruz after 2 years
Check out how a 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz held up after two years of ownership. This tiny truck isn’t selling like the Ford Maverick but it has a few advantages to consider. But every truck has potential downsides as well.
The worst parts about owning a Hyundai Santa Cruz
According to AutoBlog, owning a Hyundai Santa Cruz is mostly a practical and comfortable experience. But one owner did come across a few bumps in the road.
For example, the Santa Cruz had a recall due to a problem with the towing wiring. After the dealership disconnected the wiring, they never contacted the owner again.
He waited for months for a fix that never came. However, this seems like the owner’s fault. Why didn’t he contact his local dealership or a Hyundai rep to move the process along?
Aside from not being able to tow for months, he did haul a few different trailers with the little truck. One particular load of around 1,000 lbs caused the brakes to overheat.
But he had the weaker engine instead of the turbo that can tow up to 5,000 lbs. The base engine can tow up to 1,400 lbs.
Also, while the truck bed provides ample space, he recommends not going for the tonneau cover. It eats up a lot of the space while retracted.
Last but not least, the owner has been upset that the Hyundai Santa Cruz doesn’t offer a hybrid engine, like the Ford Maverick.
Otherwise, he found the truck to be spacious, comfortable, and capable of off-roading. The composite bed is practical with plenty of tie-downs and water-proof storage.
Plus, the self-leveling rear suspension automatically raises its height to its normal position under heavy loads. This made his driving experience more comfortable.
