An 18-year-old woman suffered grievous injuries after falling from an Uber near Santander Avenue, as per details provided by the Laredo police. She is reported to be in critical condition due to the injuries.
A report states that the woman fell from the moving vehicle while trying to exit it after an argument with the driver over money. The argument could have angered the driver, leading them to step on the accelerator when the woman tried to exit the vehicle. Police reached the accident scene and arrested the driver, Luis Heras Jr.
It was earlier reported by the LPD that the woman had fallen from a moving El Metro bus. However, the true details of the incident were obtained after the police reached the accident spot.
Motorbiscuit reported another incident involving a taxi driver and the passenger over ‘burping.’ A 51-year-old taxi driver in Fuengirola allegedly punched his 65-year-old passenger because he was burping. The police have arrested the driver on suspicion of assault.
The driver picked up two passengers from Ireland near a hotel on Fuengirola’s seafront promenade, the Paseo Marítimo Rey de España. Both passengers were drinking when they were picked up. What sparked off the fight was the repeated burping by one passenger, which reportedly made the driver furious.
He then stopped the car before reaching the destination and asked both passengers to get out. While the matter should have ended there, the driver escalated the situation by allegedly punching the 65-year-old, who lost his balance as a result and fell on the kerb, which reportedly resulted in a head injury. The victim bled from the head and nose.
Soon, Policía Nacional officers and medical crews were at the crime scene, where they attended to the victim. He was taken to the Las Lagunas de Mijas Health Centre, where he received treatment before being shifted to the Costa del Sol Hospital.
The accused driver was detained and arrested for assault before being released on bail. Several reports have ruled out a racial angle to the attack. The suspect’s name has not been published, although an investigation is being carried out, based on the forced stop, the alleged punch, and the injuries suffered by the victim.
