Of all the cars featured on That ‘70s Show, the 1969 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser station wagon was arguably the most well-known one. It was used mostly as a prop in the background of the show and for the occasional driving shot, but over time, it became less of a car and more of a character on the show itself. That’s not too bad considering the Vista Cruiser wasn’t the most well-known station wagon before That ‘70s Show aired. But what happened after That ‘70s Show was cancelled? Well, as it turns out, Wilmer Valderrama scored the iconic Vista Cruiser for a ridiculously low price.

Wilmer Valderrama bought the Vista Cruiser from ‘That ’70s Show’ for $500

Yup, you read that one right. Wilmer Valderrama was able to score the iconic Vista Cruiser station wagon seen on That ‘70s Show for the bargain price of $500. In an interview on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Valderrama revealed that nearing the end of the show, he decided to buy it from the show’s prop department. And for a mere $500, it was his.

“I go, ‘Listen, how much for the Vista Cruiser?’ He goes, ‘What? You don’t want that thing.’ I go, ‘Yes I do. I need the Vista Cruiser.’ They said $500 bucks, so I bought the Vista Cruiser for 500 bucks from our props department,” Valderrama explained to Clarkson. “When I look at that car, it reminds me of when I was 17 18 years old working That ‘70s Show and doing that opening sequence where we’re just driving in the street and honestly, it’s going to be in my family forever,” he continued.

Yes, Wilmer Valderrama loved the Vista Cruiser so much so that he not only paid $500 to buy it off the set of That ‘70s Show, but he also plans to will it to his children. To, you know, leave the burden of an old car to them. As he jokingly put it to Clarkson.

What the Vista Cruiser from ‘That ‘70s Show’ is actually worth

So, as it turns out, Wilmer Valderrama actually got a pretty killer deal on the 1969 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser station wagon from That ‘70s Show. According to NADA Guides, when the Vista Cruiser station wagon was first released, it sold for approximately $3,457.

Nowadays, most Vista Cruiser station wagons sell for an average of $28,500. Still pretty pricey for a used car, if you ask me. But the most you can expect to spend on one of these wagons? About $53,300, which is pretty expensive for a 1960’s era station wagon. So Valderrama scooping one up for $500? Yeah, that’s a pretty good deal.

It’s not too surprising to hear that Valderrama purchased the Vista Cruiser for himself, though. According to Earn the Necklace, Wilmer Valderrama has a pretty extensive car collection. He’s not only the proud owner of the That ‘70s Show Vista Cruiser, but he also reportedly owns a Lamborghini Murcielago LP640. Valderrama has several custom-built cars in his collection too.

Can you buy a movie car if you weren’t actually in the movie?

Movie cars are pretty cool. So are cars that show up in television shows. You know, like the Vista Cruiser. But what if you aren’t an actor? Can you buy a car from a television show or movie? As it turns out, you can! The Hollywood Movie Car Company often sells cars from the big screen. So if you’re after a car worthy of the red carpet? Now you know where to shop. Odds are, though, you’re not going to get as good of a deal as Wilmer Valderrama did.
