We’ve got out eyes on everything Toyota right now. The 2022 Lexus LX 600 just dropped, and we’ve already seen the new Toyota Tundra. But what about the 2023 Toyota Sequoia? Does the Lexus LX 600 provide clues about what to expect? 

Will the Toyota Sequoia borrow anything from the 2022 Lexus LX 600? 

The 2022 Lexus LX 600 is a luxury SUV with the option of only four seats. The Toyota Sequoia provides seating for up to eight. However, the F Sport models have a three-row setup with seven seats, and the third row can be folded flat. 

Both the 2022 Toyota Tundra and Lexus LX 600 ride on the body-on-frame GA-F platform. They also share it with the Land Cruiser 300. So, this indicates that the 2023 Toyota Sequioa will also ride on this platform. 

Critics have already agreed that the Tundra has a smoother ride and sportier handling, so those will be exciting improvements for the lumbering Sequoia. 

Will the Lexus LX 600 share its muscle? 

The 2022 Lexus LX 600 comes with a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine with 409 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. The Tundra has a related unit, so it could be placed in the Sequoia as well. In the Tundra, it generates 389 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. It may provide less power in the Sequoia because it’s much larger and could be heavier. 

It’s a little odd that the Lexus LX didn’t gain the i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain with 437 hp and 583 lb-ft of torque. We hope this option makes it to the three-row Sequoia to improve its fuel efficiency. 

We aren’t sure how much the Lexus LX 600 can tow, but the Lexus LX 570 can tow about 7,000 lbs. The current Toyota Sequoia can yow up to 7,400 lbs. We hope to see a slight increase when the 2023 model arrives. 

The LX 600 gained plenty of off-roading upgrades. The Lexus Active Height Control (AHC) suspension system uses hydraulics to adjust the ride heigh. Low provides passenger access. There are also settings for Normal, High 1, and High 2. 

With the new version of the Multi-Terrain Select, there is a low-speed Crawl Control mode. It serves as a cruise control system for off-roading. The ground clearance for the suspension settings haven’t been released. Perhaps the Sequoia TRD Pro will gain similar upgrades. 

Does the LX 600 have good features? 

Yes, the 2022 Lexus LX 600 is loaded with modern luxury. It has a 12.3-inch touchscreen above a smaller 7.0-inch touchscreen that controls the HVAC and off-roading system. You also get an 8.0-inch digital gauge cluster. 

We don’t expect the Sequoia to have luxury finishes that include quilted leather and footrests. But as it replaces the Land Cruiser as the large Toyota SUV in America, it’s possible that it could gain an ultra-luxurious trim level. 

Pricing for the LX 600 is expected to that around $90,000. The 2021 Sequoia begins at about $50,400. With a $40,000 difference, luxury levels and equipment will be different. But the powertrains and platform are expected to be the same.
