Will the 2021 Toyota Tundra be a Better Truck?

Is the 2021 Toyota Tundra a good truck?

At the moment, it’s a little early to tell if the 2021 Toyota Tundra will be a good truck or not, as we have limited information about what to expect. Information is also currently limited because not much is changing for the Toyota Tundra in 2021.

It’s an interesting choice to not have many updates when lists like CarMax and U.S. News ranked the Toyota Tundra in 6th or 7th place while listing the best pickup trucks for 2020. It’s praised for having a powerful V8 engine, high predicted reliability rating, and tons of driver assistance features.

According to the U.S. News, that’s not enough for it to keep up with rivals. It has a weaker towing capacity than competitors, it has a poor fuel economy, a stiff ride, and an outdated interior.

These aspects of the Toyota Tundra will be carried over to the 2021 model, so it might be worth it to wait for the redesigned Toyota Tundra in 2022. However, the 2021 Toyota Tundra is coming out with a few interesting special editions.

The 2021 Toyota Tundra Trail Edition

You might be able to get your hands on one of the 5,000 2021 Toyota Tundra Trail Editions that are being produced. The Trail Edition is based on the Toyota Tundra SR5, which is the base model trim with the CrewMax Cab.

The Toyota Tundra Trail Edition with rear-wheel drive starts around $43k, and the four-wheel drive variant starts around $46k. It also comes with all-weather cargo mats, black 20-inch rims, black upholstery with tan stitching, bucket seats, and lumbar driver support.

You’ll find three cup holders in the center console, a lockable bed with storage insulation and a drainage plug, the 1794 edition chrome grille, and a larger fuel tank. The Trail Edition is offered in four exterior colors, including Army Green, Cement, Midnight Black, and Super White.

The 2021 Toyota Tundra Nightshade Special Edition

You can enter the dark side with the 2021 Toyota Tundra Nightshade Special Edition, which has more configurations available, including multiple cab sizes. The CrewMax variant, which has the largest cab, starts around $49k with four-wheel drive.

The Nightshade Toyota Tundra includes black everything. You’ll find black leather seats, black wheels, a darker grille, a black exhaust tip, and more. This edition is also offered in four exterior colors, including Super White, Magnetic Gray Metallic, Windchill Pearl, and Midnight Black Metallic.

Also, the Toyota Tundra TRD Pro is getting a new unique Lunar Rock color that’s out of this world. Other than that, currently, it’s not receiving any interior or performance updates. But because the TRD Pro is considered the best Toyota Tundra trim, maybe it doesn’t need many updates.
