If you tuned in to watch the Super Bowl this year, you might have caught a glimpse of a commercial introducing Kia’s newest SUV. The 2021 Kia Seltos made a grand entrance, both in its television debut and in the subcompact crossover segment.

This newest SUV model comes on the heels of another blockbuster Kia launch, the 2020 Telluride SUV introduction last spring. For an automaker to spend the big bucks on a Super Bowl campaign, it must have something pretty special on its hands. So will this new Kia Seltos be as successful as its mid-size SUV predecessor?

The Kia Seltos is a clever SUV with tons of standard features and personality. In terms of size, it slides nicely between the Soul and the Sportage, with plenty of cargo for a subcompact vehicle.

What we know so far is there are plenty of trim levels to carve out your perfect roster of amenities. You’ll also have two engine sizes, a 2.0L four-cylinder, and a 1.6L turbocharged four-cylinder. The base model is FWD, but all other variations are AWD standard.

Seltos owners will love the enhanced infotainment, connectivity, and menu of driver assistance features, too. It offers a completely unique style, to complement the preferences of those not impressed with existing Kia model designs.

Kia played its hand well when it launched its bigger SUV, the Telluride. New for 2020, this mid-size SUV with a seating capacity of seven or eight is already landing at the top of all the expert review lists. It’s powerful, offers exceptional handling, and standard features that exceed most in its class. The Telluride boasts an above-average reliability rating and has already earned bragging rights across several best-of lists.

The Kia Telluride is the largest SUV the Korean automaker produces. When it came on stage last spring, it made a huge splash. A few of the accolades include MotorTrend’s 2020 SUV of the Year, Best 3-Row SUV for the Money Award Finalist, and U.S. News & World Reports, Cars #1 Ranking Midsize SUV, #2 Crossover SUVs, and #1 SUVs with 3 Rows.

Taking a page from the Kia Telluride handbook

If the success so far of the Kia Telluride is any indication of what kind of a welcome the Seltos will have, Seltos is in for a standing ovation for the ages. Kia has learned how to design an SUV that offers everything that matters most to consumers.

Comfort, overall value, and standard features are at the heart of both Telluride and Seltos SUVs. People want reliable vehicles that make safety, connectivity, and style available at every level. Kia also learned from Telluride, the importance of proper timing and introduction.

Following in last year’s footsteps, the automaker chose a high-profile arena in which to launch its latest SUV. Now that the nationwide audience knows about it, we wait to see if they’re ready to buy it.

For those who need to seat seven, the Telluride is a perfect fit. For anyone looking to downsize the passenger capacity, without compromising anything else, the Seltos could be your Cinderella slipper. If you missed the Kia Seltos introduction during the Super Bowl, you might have since caught the commercial featuring a once homeless, Josh Jacobs, and his perseverance to success.

When it’s time to get serious about buying a new SUV for your driveway, the 2021 Kia Seltos may demand your attention. It might prove to be just as popular as its mid-size SUV cousin, the Telluride.
