Buying a new pickup truck is an exciting experience for anyone. Pickup trucks have long been a fan favorite among drivers because they are so versatile. And with its advanced technology features and its outstanding durability, the Ford F-150 has been the best-selling truck in America for decades.

If you just bought a Ford F-150 or are thinking about buying one, there are a few things that you need to consider first. For starters, you need to figure out if the truck can fit in your garage. There is nothing worse than buying a new truck only to find out that it will have to stay parked outside where it could get abused by the elements. Here are a few things that you can do to figure out if your new F-150 will be able to stay parked safely in your garage.

How long is the Ford F-150?

The Ford F-150 offers several cab and bed configurations. There are three different cab options to choose from: A regular cab, a SuperCab, and a SuperCrew cab. The regular cab F-150 has the shortest length. It offers no back seat and can be equipped with either a 6.5-foot or an 8-foot bed. When it is equipped with the 6.5-foot bed, the truck measures 209.3 inches long (about 17.5 feet.) When the regular cab is equipped with the 8-foot bed, the overall length of the truck is 227.9 inches (close to 19 feet.)

The F-150 SuperCab offers a small back seat and also has three different bed sizes available. When equipped with the 8-foot bed, the F-150 SuperCab measures 250.5 inches (almost 21 feet) and is the longest F-150 available on the market. The SuperCab can also be equipped with a 6.5-foot bed, which would make the truck 231.9 inches (about 19 feet) long. Also, for the Ford Raptor trim only, drivers can also choose the 5.5-foot bed that gives the truck an overall length of 220 inches (about 18 feet).

The F-150’s SuperCrew configuration offers the most interior space. It features a spacious back seat that is capable of seating up to three adults comfortably and also has four full-sized doors. The SuperCrew has two different bed size options. When equipped with the 5.5-foot bed, the truck has an overall length of 231.9 inches (about 18 feet). The available 6.5-foot bed brings the truck’s overall length to 243.7 inches (about 20 feet).

Additionally, the F-150 is 96.8 inches wide when equipped with the standard side mirrors, and it is 105.9 inches wide if you choose to upgrade to the trailer tow side mirrors.

How to tell if the Ford F-150 will fit in your garage?

The best way to determine if your garage can handle the F-150 is to simply measure your garage with a tape measure. You will want to make sure that there are a few extra inches around the vehicle. You especially want to make sure you are able to have plenty of extra width so that you can get in and out of your truck without bumping the doors on anything.

Also, if you have had any extra components added to your truck, like specialty bumpers, a tow hitch, or a ladder rack, you will want to take that into consideration when you are measuring your garage.

What if it can’t fit into your garage?

If, after you have measured your garage, you find yourself coming up a little short on space, don’t panic just yet. There are a few things that you can do to help your truck fit into your garage. If you have added some exterior accessories to your truck, like a light bar or an exterior tow package and you find that you don’t really use those accessories too much, you may want to consider taking them off.

Also, if your truck is just a little too wide for your garage, you can always just fold the side mirrors in when parking it. Folding the side mirrors in won’t give you a whole lot of extra room, but it may give you the last few inches of space that you need.
