Why the Rich and Famous Have Started Buying Pickup Trucks

When you think of celebrities or athletes with their cars, an image of a flashy sports car or street-legal racer probably comes to mind. These cars are the most stylish and expensive on the market, which makes them popular choices for people with a lot of disposable income. However, the most recent trend among the affluent is buying pickup trucks.

With the amount of money that engineers are sinking into developing the technology and luxury interior of certain trucks, this doesn’t really shock us. Trucks aren’t just used for off-roading and work anymore. In fact, some of these trucks are just as fancy as a new Tesla, and possibly more powerful.

Ram Limited Tungsten Edition

The Limited is currently the nicest Ram you can buy, but the previous generation had an even more luxurious version called the Tungsten Edition. Buyers could choose from eight different body colors and the truck had a special grille design. The seats, center console, steering wheel, and even the door panels are made with premium leather. The seats could be cooled and heated. Natural wood finishing could also be found along the dashboard and other areas of the cabin.

The Tungsten also had a lot of infotainment features to enjoy, all accessible via an 8.4-inch touchscreen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto were also included. The Tungsten started at $56,515.

Ford F-150 Limited

The Limited F-150 starts at nearly $70,000, but it’s definitely more upscale than your average Ford truck. Its exterior looks more refined thanks to the satin finishes and silver accents inside the grille. Its front seats and wheel are heated and wrapped in black leather. In SuperCrew cabs, a twin-panel moonroof is standard.

Even with all the posh material inside, the Limited doesn’t skimp on the power. It comes with a 3.5-liter Ecoboost engine capable of 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque. It also has a great infotainment setup and many standard safety features.

GMC Sierra Denali

The Denali comes with 22-inch aluminum wheels, bright LED lights, and an exclusive grille design to help it stand out from its rivals. Inside, it has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, as well as a Wi-fi hotspot and several USB charging ports. In addition to the center touchscreen, there’s another LCD screen located in the gauge cluster.  The interior is made with leather and the seats are highly adjustable. Under the hood, it has a 6.2-liter V8 engine capable of 420 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque.

Nissan Platinum Reserve

The interior of the Platinum Reserve is just as spacious as the regular Titan, but this trim has leather seats and natural wood-grain accents. Both the front and the rear seats can be heated and are built with memory foam for an added layer of comfort.

The infotainment screen is on the small side, but it still has an excellent navigation system and hands-free calling capability. The Platinum Reserve also can be started remotely and has a touchpad on the driver’s side door for keyless entry. This truck usually costs around $65,000.

Mercedes Benz X-Class

This luxury brand released its first pickup truck in 2017. The X-Class has all the characteristics of an upscale truck, including the leather interior and a unique carbon-fiber trim. It has matte black detailing on the outside, as well as a unique front bumper and bigger tires.

Currently, you can only find the X-Class in Europe, but it won’t be around for much longer. The company announced that it would be discontinuing the vehicle due to low new car sales. Still, we hope this doesn’t deter Mercedes Benz from making more luxury pickups in the future.
