Firstly, the brand new starting price for the 2023 Subaru Crosstrek is $24,870, according to Cars.com. It will come in five gas-only trims: Base, Premium, Special Edition, Sport, and Limited. Additionally, the Crosstrek Hybrid will also be available on top of those five trims. Every 2023 model is $550 more than its 2022 version. What warrants the price increase for the 2023 Subaru Crosstrek?

2023 Subaru Crosstrek: What’s under the hood?

Gas-only Crosstrek models come with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder or a 2.5-liter four-cylinder. The latter is only available for the Sport and Limited trims, while the former is exclusive to the Base and Premium trims. Next, the two lower models get 28 city and 33 highway mpg, while the higher trims change to 27/34. For those looking for excellent fuel economy, you should opt for the hybrid model.

Under the hood of the electrified Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid, you’ll find a 2.0-liter engine with two electric motors. Combined, they’re good for an EPA-estimated 35 mpg, 90 MPGe, and 17 miles of all-electric range. Additionally, the two electric motors will undoubtedly propel the Crosstrek to more horsepower than the weaker 152 hp and 182 hp gas-only engines.

Every trim level besides the Base model offers an optional package with a moonroof, enhanced driver-assist features, and a navigation system. Standard features in the base model include a 6.5-inch touchscreen, keyless entry, Subaru’s EyeSight driver-assist suite, X-Mode with hill descent control, and more.

Opting for the Premium model costs $26,020 but includes the All-Weather package. You’ll get heated front seats, windshield, and mirrors inside the package. A six-speaker sound system, a retractable cargo cover, cargo tray, and leather-wrapped steering wheel are standard.

Next, a Crosstrek Sport costs $29,220. For a few thousand dollars extra, buyers get keyless access with push-button start and dark gray 17-inch alloy wheels. In addition, the interior gains water-repellent leatherette seats instead of cloth like the lower trims. Lastly, the Sport model has a dual-mode X-mode system with snow/dirt and deep snow/mud modes.

For the range-topping Limited model, buyers get a lot for $30,720. You’ll get exterior upgrades like 18-inch black aluminum-alloy wheels for just a little more than the Sport trim. Finally, body-color mirrors, LED low and high beams, daytime running lights, leather seats with gray trim and orange stitching, and more.

Finally, the Crosstrek Hybrid costs $38,070 and comes with similar equipment to the Limited model. Although it’s much more expensive, it adds fuel economy, unique interior and exterior accents, and more styling cues. Lastly, it includes an enhanced version of Subaru’s Starlink Connected Services.

On top of the usual items, the new 2023 Subaru Crosstrek has a Special Edition for the first time. While the Outback and Forester received the off-road Wilderness model, the Crosstrek gained a Special Edition. The Crosstrek’s new model focuses more on appearance than anything else. Moreover, it shares most of its equipment with the Premium trim level. However, it stands out with a Desert Khaki paint color, dark gray 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, and a black finish for the mirrors, grille, and door handles.

For the interior, the Crosstrek Special Edition has red and black upholstery with contrast stitching. Additionally, there’s an upgraded leather-wrapped steering wheel and dark trim throughout. Lastly, it uses a larger eight-inch touchscreen like higher trims instead of the smaller one used by Base and Premium models.

The 2023 Subaru Crosstrek is more expensive than the 2022

In conclusion, the 2023 Subaru Crosstrek is more expensive than the 2022 model year version. With very few changes overall, there isn’t much to justify the higher price. However, the new Special Edition adds a beautiful new design to the Crosstrek that could help yours stand out. Other than that, not much has changed for the new model year.
