Cadillac is one of the leading luxury automakers on the market. However, even the best can make some notable mistakes as the 2023 Cadillac XT4 is considered an overall lackluster SUV. It’s stylish on the outside, but doesn’t offer much in the way of reliability and performance. Here’s a look into how the Cadillac XT4 misses the mark.

The Cadillac XT4 delivers lackluster performance

One of the worst parts of the 2023 Cadillac XT4 is its performance, which is sad as it’s one of the things people know the automaker for. The 2023 XT4 comes with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 235 hp, according to Car and Driver. While that’s good power, this Cadillac SUV model still takes around 7.5 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour. It uses a nine-speed automatic transmission and can be either front or all-wheel drive.

Cadillac markets this vehicle as its sporty SUV. However, this claim is far from the case, not only because of its slow acceleration time but also because the vehicle can’t stand up to rough asphalt. In addition, the steering in this SUV isn’t the most responsive and requires much more work from the driver than other options. Unfortunately, this lack of performance isn’t isolated to the 2023 XT4. Instead, this has been true since the first of these Cadillac SUV models.

The XT4 is not reliable

Another problem with these Cadillac SUV models is the 2023 XT4 and the older versions have low-reliability scores. Though it has an 80 out of 100 predicted reliability score from J.D. Power, it’s considered less reliable than its rivals. Consumer Reports also listed the SUV on its ranking of least satisfying vehicles. The XT4 has a 1 out of 5 in the categories of predicted owner satisfaction and predicted reliability.

Aside from this, the 2023 Cadillac XT4 is said to have a poor transmission. This causes the car to jerk and shake while driving. In addition, there are reports that the SUV doesn’t perform well in lower gears. All in all, it’s an SUV that potential buyers should probably think twice about, despite coming at a lower price than other Cadillac SUV models.

The BMW X1 price makes it a rival to the 2023 Cadillac XT4

This Cadillac SUV model has great competition as it goes up against both luxury and nonluxury options. However, one of its biggest rivals is the BMW X1 2023, but this one is much more well-received. It uses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a maximum output of 241 hp. It accelerates from 0 to 60 miles per hour in a reported 6.2 seconds.

The BMW X1 price is fair for it being a more reliable SUV. It starts at $39,100, whereas the XT4 costs $37,490. For many, this is a slight price difference for what is a much better SUV. In addition, the BMW X1 has a similar look to the XT4 for people in search of that automotive design.
