The auto industry is commanded by groups like General Motors and Volkswagen AG. These giants own and operate individual brands, often sharing technology, parts, and strategy across automakers. Stellantis is no different, running over 14 car brands from two continents. In addition to Chrysler, RAM, and Jeep, the Netherlands-based auto group owns a couple of brands you may not know.

Stellantis owns several American favorites

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. Until 2021, FCA was one of the biggest names in the auto industry. But not even FCA could remain untouched by progress, and the auto group merged with Groupe PSA to form Stellantis.

That meant the then-newly minted group had the brands of both FCA and PSA under one umbrella. And today, that means 14 car brands from Europe and the United States fit into the group’s extended family. As for American automakers, Stellantis owns Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and RAM.

The group also owns a handful of European staples

On the other side of the Atlantic, Stellantis runs 10 European car brands, most of which are well-known to Americans. As a result of the $52 billion merger between FCA and Groupe PSA, the auto group owns Alfa Romeo, Abarth, Citroën, FIAT, Lancia, Maserati, and Peugeot.

But, of those brands, you won’t find any Citroën, Lancia, or Peugeot dealerships in the United States.

And a few you may not know

Then you have the brands Americans might not know well. For instance, Stellantis owns DS Automobiles, a French luxury automaker. On the more economic side of things, the auto group also runs Opel and Vauxhall, which Groupe PSA acquired in 2017.

It’s not just automakers, either. Stellantis acquired a majority share in mobility solution company, Leasys, during the initial merger between FCA and Groupe PSA. Leasys offers services like fleet vehicles and varying-term rentals.

In that same vein, the auto group acquired Share Now, a German car-sharing company. Through that acquisition, the huge auto group runs the French car-sharing service Free2Move.
