The three-row 2022 Chevy Traverse received a light refresh for the new model year. Like many other vehicles under the General Motors umbrella, new styling, design, and features have been added. The Traverse will launch alongside the Chevy Equinox as a major part of the Chevrolet SUV lineup. Some of the GM model updates were delayed due to the pandemic, including the Traverse. These updates were meant for the 2021 model year but were delayed until 2022. Here’s everything new with the 2022 Chevy Traverse, good or bad.

Standard Chevy Safety Assist

New for the 2022 model year, all Chevy Traverse models come standard with Chevy Safety Assist. CSA is a suite of six different advanced safety features, that will never cost extra. Regardless of which trim level of Traverse you choose, the suite of safety features will be included.

Chevy Safety Assist features automatic emergency braking, forward collision alert, front pedestrian braking, a rear vision camera, teen driver technology, and a safety alert seat. Some of these are becoming standard in a lot of new models today. Should safety really ever cost extra in a vehicle? We don’t think so, and neither does Chevy.

What else is new with the 2022 Chevy Traverse?

The 2022 Chevy Traverse received a few different design and style changes for the new model year as well. The interior upholstery received new designs, along with the exterior overall look. These changes make the Traverse look much more premium. Though, since it is only a light refresh, don’t expect the new model to be completely unrecognizable.

Newly added to the technology options is an 8.0-inch display inside the gauge cluster. This is just another screen inside the vehicle to dress it up a bit more. It gives drivers a little easier view of the information they need. It’s a welcomed addition to the suite of interior technology.

How much will it cost?

The base model of the 2022 Chevy Traverse is called the LS, and it starts at $34,895. CarAndDriver recommends the next step up on the list of trims, LT. That one starts at just a bit more, $37,295, and adds things like second-row captain’s chairs, a power driver’s seat, SiriusXM, roof rails, and more. From there, the Traverse also gets quite a bit more expensive.

There are three more trim levels for the Traverse, the most expensive of which is called High Country. The highest trim starts at a whopping $52,395, nearly $20,000 more than the LS base starting price. Adding equipment like the leather package to the LT model will make it feel much more luxurious without breaking the bank.

What engine comes in the 2022 Chevy Traverse?

The standard engine for this vehicle is the 310-horsepower V6, which is the only available option. The automatic stop/start is one of the most seamless available, according to CarAndDriver. The vehicle is as big as you’d expect a three-row SUV to be but packs plenty of power you can feel. Driving at high speeds, the Traverse feels smooth and maneuverable, much smaller than its size.

The 2022 Chevy Traverse received a few changes for the new model year. The most prominent of the bunch is the suite of safety features that come standard. Design changes aren’t significant enough to make a big impact, though they are welcomed. You can order your Traverse now, with all of these changes and many other amenities.
