The story of the Porsche 718 starts back in the 1950s with a radially different two-seater sports car. The Porsche 718 name started as a simple three-digit vehicle code to differentiate one Porsche car from another, but in a short time, the 718 name quickly gained popularity due to its world-changing construction and performance.

Today, the Porsche 718 Boxster and Cayman live up to their moniker by offering a compact two-seater sports car experience with a mid-engine design and extremely agile handling. With the announcement of a brand new Porsche 718 variant called the “Style Edition”, fans of sports cars and Porsches alike are excited to see what they can expect out of this new edition of 718. Here is everything you need to know about the Porsche 718 Style Edition.

Porsche 718 Style Edition specs and features

The Porsche 718 Cayman and 718 Boxster are essentially the same car, with the Porsche 718 Cayman acting as the hardtop model, and the Porsche 718 Boxster acting as the convertible soft top variant. But within these two models, the Style Edition brings a little flair to the Porsche 718 lineup with a brand new paint color called Ruby Star Neo leading the way. This striking new paint job is surprising to see out of a Porsche factory, but it is certainly a welcome addition to the lineup.

The 718 Style Edition also includes a set of 20-inch high gloss black wheels as standard equipment, with the Porsche 718 Boxster including a “Boxster” model designation on the convertible top. The Porsche 718 Style Edition also includes a set of sports tailpipes as well.

The Style Edition exclusives continue into the interior, where the steering wheel gets a makeover with a heated, leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel taking the place of the old steering wheel. An optional striping package is offered which adds decorative stripes on the top of the car and “Porsche” logos on the sides of the vehicle.

Porsche 718 Style Edition performance

The Porsche 718 Style Edition is not a pretty, stripped-down version of the 718. According to Porsche, the Style Edition retains the original drivetrain from the basic Porsche 718 which is a turbocharged 2.0 L four-cylinder Boxster engine that produces around 300 horsepower.

One of the big selling points behind this drivetrain is the fact that this car comes standard with a manual six-speed transmission, with an optional automatic seven-speed transmission as an option. With this drivetrain, the top speed of the 718 is an impressive 170 horsepower.

The Porsche 718 style edition brings flair to the 718 name which already carries a racing and performance heritage. If you are looking to get behind the wheel of an incredibly attractive 718 Style Edition, you may have a tough time at first, with the car only being released in Europe in 2023. However, you may not be disappointed for long, because Porsche plans to release this edition worldwide soon after the Europe release date.
