We Are Still Waiting for a lot of Consumer Reports Pickup Truck Ratings

Each year, Consumer Reports releases ratings in each class of the automotive industry. Pickup trucks from popular brands like Ford or Toyota are all ranked according to various ratings in areas such as reliability, consumer satisfaction, or the road test. While we are still early in the year, several trucks released their 2021 models months ago. But we are still waiting for a lot of Consumer Reports pickup truck ratings.

So far, out of 25 pickup trucks, only a fraction of them have been tested. Without testing, these pickup trucks do not have an overall score to show for themselves. So right now, the 2021 Ram 1500 and the 2021 Toyota Tundra are tied for the top spot, but major rivals like the 2021 Ford F-150 haven’t even been tested.

2021 compact pickup trucks

It’s easy to glance at the seven compact pickup trucks ranked by Consumer Reports and think the verdict is final. However, there is actually one pickup truck that hasn’t been rated. The Nissan Frontier has not received a road test from Consumer Reports for 2020 or 2021.

This might make people think that the Nissan Frontier is irrelevant to its class. However, according to Good Car Bad Car, the Nissan Frontier actually outsold rivals like the Ford Ranger, GMC Canyon, and Jeep Gladiator in various months throughout 2020. Still, who knows how long we will have to wait until Consumer Reports finally tests the Nissan Frontier and can give us a final verdict?

2021 full-size pickup trucks

There are 18 2021 full-size pickup trucks listed on Consumer Reports. However, only 6 of them so far have a Consumer Reports pickup truck rating. Favorites like the 2021 Ford F-150 and newcomers like the 2021 Rivian R1T are still yet to be tested.

Without a complete road test, Consumer Reports cannot adequately give an overall score. So, yes. The 2021 Ram 1500 and the 2021 Toyota Tundra are both highest on the 2021 full-size pickup truck list for now. But that could certainly change.

There is certainly a chance that the 2021 Nissan Titan XD or the 2021 Ford F-150 could overtake some of the pickup truck ratings we see from Consumer Reports thus far. Additionally, there are still upcoming electric pickup trucks such as the 2022 Tesla Cybertruck and the 2022 GMC Hummer EV pickup.

When will Consumer Reports test the 2021 Ford F-150?

This is America’s truck. But the 2021 model just came out. Many changes have been made to the new F-150, including a new hybrid powertrain. But when will Consumer Reports test the 2021 Ford F-150? Well, as soon as they can. Ford is getting them out as soon as possible. However, there is still a bit of a backorder on this popular pickup truck.

In the report on this all-new F-150, Consumer Reports shows excitement for buying one to test out long term. However, there’s really no way of knowing how fast this is going to happen. Especially considering that the 2021 Ford F-150 is in such high demand, it could actually be a while before we see how it stacks up against other top trucks like the 2021 Ram 1500 and the 2021 Toyota Tundra.
