YouTube is brimming with silly videos of shadetree mechanics making hilarious mistakes. Sometimes, however, a content creator will do something so foolish, by design or not, that it could have been dangerous. That’s exactly what happened when a creator sent a Ford Super Duty F-450 rolling down a hill while trying to work on it.

A YouTuber sent a Ford Super Duty F-450 barreling down a hill after he pulled a U-joint on an incline

WhistlinDiesel tends to do, well, unfortunate things. The YouTuber routinely destroys expensive vehicles like a Rolls-Royce, a Mercedes-Benz G-Class, and the oft-hated Tesla Cybertruck. However, his car-destroying antics are usually intentional. Not the result of foolishly pulling a U-joint from under a massive dually pickup truck while it sits on an incline. You can see where this is going.

In the video, WhistlinDiesel is attempting to remove a U-joint from underneath a Ford Super Duty F-450. A moment later, the massive, 8,000-lb dually starts rolling. At first, the monstrous F-450 rolls slowly. However, it picks up speed quickly, making a beeline for the base of the hill.

“You forgot to block it!” the camera person shouted. The YouTuber tried to toss a block behind the truck’s front wheels. However, the heavy Ford F-450 simply bounced over the wooden block and continued its descent, picking up speed as it did. WhistlinDiesel attempted to stop the truck by running alongside it and pushing. But even a large, strong man wouldn’t be able to stop the truck.

Of course, it’s WhistlinDiesel. So, as many commenters pointed out, this was likely a “bit.” Another commenter responded with “Anything for views.” Of course, joke or not, a Ford F-450 rolling back at speed is nothing short of a wrecking ball looking for a target to destroy.

Now, dear reader, removing a U-joint on an incline is a bad idea, regardless of whether it’s a joke or not. Your U-joint connects the driveshaft to the differential. Of course, some applications, like all-wheel drive (AWD) vehicles, have two driveshafts. Still, removing the U-joint can allow a vehicle to roll freely, creating a dangerous situation for driveway mechanics.

As such, it’s important to remember to secure a vehicle before removing its U-joint and dropping its driveshaft. Always use the parking brake, wheel chocks, or blocks to prevent a vehicle from moving while working on it.
