We’ve all seen road rage. In some cases, it’s a reckless driver cutting off other motorists. However, some of the most dramatic examples involve drivers going to extreme lengths to harm another driver after they feel slighted in some capacity. It’s unfortunately what one driver had to contend with when a Virginia woman climbed on her hood, ripped off her windshield wiper, and battered her windshield while screaming death threats.

A Virginia woman with road rage jumped on the hood of a Nissan, pummeling it and screaming ‘I’m going to kill you!’

Ashton Miano was driving near an apartment complex in Lynchburg, Virginia. Another driver “pulled out right in front of her,” cutting her off and forcing Miano to stop abruptly. Understandably, Miano felt justified honking her horn at the driver. After all, she “had to brake pretty hard to avoid hitting her.” However, the sound of Miano’s horn was too much for the other driver, who stopped her vehicle and got out to confront her.

“I’m gonna kill you!” she yelled as she mounted the Nissan SUV. A popular video shows the agitated driver climbing onto the blue SUV’s hood with little to no hesitation. She continued to scream, “I’m going to kill you!” Police later identified the road rager as Nancy Campanino.

Campanino then ripped a windshield wiper off the Nissan and used it to strike the windshield. As if in a comedy with an emphasis on physical jokes, Campanino continued striking the SUV. However, and troublingly so, she continued shouting “I can stay here all day!” as she did. The attacker’s repeated hits eventually broke the Nissan’s windshield, although not enough for Campanino to get to Miano.

Meanwhile, Miano remained in her Nissan, refusing to exit and engage her aggressor. Fortunately, a bystander pulled Campanino’s keys out of her vehicle to prevent an escape following the vandalism and threats. “After she broke my windshield, [she] did try to get back in her car and drive off,” Miano told ABC News.

“When she realized she couldn’t do that, she got back out of her car and approached him,” Miano said of the tantrum-throwing motorist turning her attention to the bystander with her keys. Miano told the media outlet that the bystander put Campanino in a hold until authorities arrived to arrest her.

Authorities charged Campanino with two counts of assault and a count of disorderly conduct, as well as vandalism. Police officers also commended Miano for her cool during the situation. It’s a reminder to remain calm and avoid engaging agitated individuals, especially those as unhinged as this case.
