Watch: Passengers Escape After Taxi is Pierced by Iron Rods in Horrific Incident

In a shocking incident in the state of Maharashtra in India, iron rods from an overloaded pickup truck pierced a taxi after the truck driver suddenly slammed the brakes, sending the unsecured rods flying forward. The viral video attracted strong criticism from people, with many also calling it a miracle since the occupants escaped unharmed.

The pickup truck was clearly transporting more iron rods than it could accommodate, which backfired when the driver applied the brakes. An overloaded truck is a recipe for disaster, especially if the cargo isn’t fastened properly.

Overloaded truck could lead to accident

Under heavy braking, the iron rods broke free and struck the Suzuki Ertiga taxi in front. Several rods shattered the rear glass of the taxi and went through it, with some almost reaching the dashboard in front. The video caption specified that no one was hurt in the accident. The concerned authorities were also questioned about how overloaded trucks were allowed to be driven around town. The caption stated:

“This exposes the shocking reality of traffic rule violations in India. If this is the situation in big cities, where traffic police presence is supposed to be strict, then the question is where is enforcement? Why is such life-threatening negligence allowed on public roads? Next time, it might not end without casualties.”

The chilling video received many reactions, some of which are below:

“It is illegal to carry goods that protrude beyond the vehicle body or are not safely contained.

“In this case, accountability must be fixed, and both the driver and the vehicle owner must be tried for murder.

“Transporting hazardous material without basic precautions is an accident waiting to happen.”

Another user said it was a miracle since no one was killed:

“It’s a miracle nobody died !! The Puck Up truck had done everything possible to kill a couple of people! The Pickup truck Driver should be booked for attempt to murder !” [sic]

Someone compared it to the movie Final Destination:

“Final destination lesson never drive behind such trucks carrying rods logs”
