Footage of a boat catching air at 213 mph (343 km/h) has gone viral, showing it flipping violently and crashing into the water. The incident occurred at Lake of the Ozarks last weekend and left the driver seriously injured.
Organizers call the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout the largest powerboating event in the world. It is known for its top-speed runs, in which boats make timed passes over a measured course to see how fast they can go. The 2026 event was the 38th annual Shootout, held August 29–30. The boats range from relatively conventional performance boats to enormous, highly modified offshore-style machines capable of over 200 mph.
The video was shared by BlitzNEWS US on Instagram, showing the Dirty Duck becoming airborne and flipping almost immediately. The boat’s nose struck the water before it continued spinning through the air and eventually came down tail-first. The slow-motion footage highlights just how violent the crash was.

The incident involving the Dirty Duck left 45-year-old Adam Seraphine with a broken leg. He was released from the hospital early Monday afternoon, according to a report by KOMU. Rusty Williams, the boat’s throttleman, was relieved the boat ended up the right way up after landing on the water:
“It ended up as best as it possibly could, as far as it being right-side up.”
Addressing Seraphine’s condition, he said:
“The doctor said he is going to walk in two days as long as his pain is manageable.”
Despite being involved in the dramatic incident, Williams escaped without injury, crediting the training he had undergone. He said:
“We practice escape plans every year, so the first thing that went through my head was thinking about escaping.”
The Dirty Duck itself sustained damage in the crash and was undergoing repairs. Slug Hefner, the team captain, said:
“These boats are pretty tough, and they are made to race.”
Hefner was grateful everyone survived the crash. The team will return for the Shootout in 2027.
