Want a Drifting Porsche 911 Without Breaking the Bank? There’s a Small Catch to This Legit Deal

Not only can one buy this Porsche 911 964 Turbo without breaking the bank, but even drifting it won’t be expensive because you won’t have to worry about replacing performance tires, clutch plates… Insurance? Likely, you won’t have to worry about it. While this is starting to sound very tempting, here’s the catch: It is a half-scale 964. But it’ll still drift and bring a wide smile to your face.

It was created by an ‘automotive art studio’ called End Of S.T.A.Y., which began its journey building half-scale cars for Chinese car enthusiasts. It has just one seat and basic controls at the driver’s disposal. The aim was to create a real lookalike of a great car and slide around without having to worry about money or mechanics.

Renowned Los Angeles automotive photographer Larry Chen shared a reel of the small Porsches in action, driven by grown men having the time of their lives. The best part is that the company’s lineup isn’t limited to the Porsche 911 964 Turbo.

Apart from the 964 and Cabriolet Junior variants, the popular AE86, Defender 90, and OG Defender Junior options are available on their website.

Chen states that the cars are capable of reaching speeds of up to 71 mph, and come with four-wheel disc brakes, a hydraulic hand brake, and full coilover suspension. He wrote on Instagram:

@endofstay_automotivestudio started building these half scale cars as a way for Chinese car enthusiasts to enjoy the Porsche 964. On paper only ten were sold in China when they were new cars.

“While these cars are cool to look at the performance is what stands out for me. The fact that you can drift on real rubber tires on a normal road surface is too cool. The white one I drove today has 35hp and it’s capable of 71mph, and it gets up there quickly. My eyes were tearing up even with my @heatwavevisual sunglasses on.

“They are so easy to drive with four wheel disk brakes and even a hydraulic hand brake. It has full coilover suspension, so you can really feel the weight transfer.” [sic]

While not much has been said about how these cars are powered, electric motors likely produce the tempting 35hp. The END OF S.T.A.Y. 964 Turbo Junior MK5 is available to order on their website for $8,800. Drifting wasn’t that cheap the last time we checked online.

Of course, this doesn’t in any way replace an actual performance car. But as a tool to have fun in a small piece of history, it is commendable.
