The issue specifically targets standard Jettas from the 2025 and 2026 model years that rolled off the production line between March 2025 and February 2026. It covers in total, 48,165 units originally sold in the United States, alongside an additional 13,318 vehicles in the Canadian market, bringing the grand total to over 61,000 cars.
However, there is a silver lining for panicked owners. While the recall scope is vast, VW estimates that fewer than 1% of these sedans actually left the factory floor with the disconnected ground wire.

To remedy the dangerous defect, dealerships will perform a thorough inspection of the transmission grounding setup entirely free of charge.
