We’ve all spent hours aggressively boosting around the stadium of Rocket League, wondering what it would be like to actually smash a car into an oversized soccer ball. Well, wonder no more. A brand-new attraction has just launched in the Nevada desert that brings the chaotic glory of car soccer into the real world.
Welcome to the Vegas Rocket Rally. According to a recently viral Instagram video, it is currently the only place in the United States where you can drive real-life rally cars through the dirt to chase a giant ball.
What is the Vegas Rocket Rally?
Inspired by the massive video game hit and Germany’s long-running Auto Ball tradition, Vegas Rocket Rally is an fun, car-related competition located just off the Las Vegas Strip.
You split into teams, strap into an actual car, and engage in full-contact, high-adrenaline gameplay to score points by pushing a massive, inflatable ball into a goal.
The Cars: Stripped-Down Honda Civics
Obviously, you aren’t using delicate million-dollar supercars for this kind of demolition. Based on the footage, the organizers have opted for the perfect, unkillable weapon of choice: older-generation Honda Civics painted in bright red and blue.
To prep them for the dusty arena, the vehicles have been heavily modified for safety and abuse. The side glass is completely removed, the interiors are gutted, and they are fitted with proper racing seats to keep drivers securely in place while they violently chase down the giant ball. The clip shows the cars trading paint, drifting through the dirt, and slamming directly into the oversized ball.
While it might look like pure lawless chaos out on the dirt, there is an actual game structure. The experience starts with a brief safety orientation in a classroom before drivers hit the track.
A standard booking gives players two 15-minute gameplay sessions totaling a grueling 30 minutes of high-energy, full-contact driving. You score goals, block opponents, and earn points to win the game, just like you would on a console.
The Price of Admission
Living out your automotive video game fantasies doesn’t come cheap, but for a highly unique Vegas excursion, it is fairly reasonable. The experience starts at around $250 per person.
Because the dirt track is located out in the desert, the company provides complimentary round-trip transportation, picking players up directly from the Las Vegas Strip and dropping them off at no extra charge. Plus, to celebrate their recent launch, anyone who books the experience before May 1st will get a free lunch thrown into the package.
It’s full-contact, it’s fast, and it involves beating up Honda Civics in the dirt. If you are heading to Sin City anytime soon, this brand-new attraction might just be the most entertaining way to spend an afternoon.
