Dodge’s SRT division began working on “Operation Tomcat” in 2011. The goal was simple: the company’s first factory supercharged V8 would make supercar power levels at muscle car prices. The resulting Challenger and Charger Hellcats took the automotive world by storm. So how much do they cost on the used market?

Used Challenger Hellcat prices

The 2015 Dodge Challenger Hellcat had a $59,995 MSRP and made 707 horsepower. The result was a completely unprecedented $84.86 per horsepower. Dodge listed the four-door Charger variant at $64,990. It continued building both cars through the 2023 model year, selling approximately 100,000 total. Now, Hellcats are hitting the used car market.

According to Classic.com, 2015–2023 Challenger Hellcat listings over the past year have averaged $55,172. The lowest sale in the past 12 months was $36,000. The highest was $113,488. I used MotorBiscuit’s car buying tool to scan listings nationwide and found a few Challenger Hellcats listed just under $40,000. You’ll want to budget a bit more for a reliable, low-mileage example with a clean title and no modifications.

The Challenger was the only one of the two models available with a traditional stick-shift transmission, and fans of three-pedal cars will appreciate that some of the most affordable Challenger Hellcats currently listed are stick-shift examples. The 2018 factory widebody kit is a more commonly desirable feature and appears to increase cars’ value on the used market.

Used Charger Hellcat prices

While the four-door Charger Hellcat didn’t offer the same dramatic, retro styling, it had a more functional sedan layout. So how’s it faring on the used car market? The average 2011–2023 Dodge Charger resells for $59,280. But of course, the lineup includes clapped-out police cars or V6 models going for as low as $5,000. The average Charger Hellcat over the past year resold for $64,000. That’s about $10,000 higher than the average Challenger Hellcat.

Obviously, if you’re looking for a budget-friendly muscle car, the naturally aspirated V6 Challenger and Charger are excellent options that will need less maintenance than a supercharged Hellcat.
