Some of the best SUVs are the Lexus SUVs, and the Lexus RX is a great option for many people. For some, they don’t care what kind of SUV it is, as long as it’s a Lexus, and find themselves having to choose between the RX and NX. Now, though, there’s another trim to add to the RX line — the Black Line.

Here are two of the best things about the new Black Line trim: You can already buy it, and it’s got some new standard features, per MotorTrend. The RX F Sport model is also the newest vehicle from Lexus to get the Black Line treatment. The last time this happened, it was for the GS sedan and RC coupe. It’s named for the subtle dark accents added to it. Read on to find out more.

The Lexus RX Black Line special edition can be applied to both types of power trains: gas and hybrid. If you choose the gas model, you’ll get a 3.5 liter, V 6 engine, which will give you 295 horsepower and is nothing to sneeze about. If you choose the hybrid model, the same engine is paired with an electric motor, so you’ll get a combined 308 ponies, also nothing to scoff at. At the time of this writing, Lexus only plans to sell 750 gas model RX Black Lines and 250 hybrid model RX Black Lines. So, if you’re interested, you won’t want to wait.

There’s a beautiful set of 20-inch black wheels on the Lexus RX Black Line trim and is probably the most notable (or first noticed) difference. You’ll also find mirrors that have been painted black, side graphics that are black, and a dark grille. All in all, these changes in the looks of the body of the SUV gives it a look that is meaner, but subtly so. There are also two high-contrast paint colors to complement the accents — Ultra White and Grecian water.

Moving into the cabin, you’ll find that the Black Line trim has black seats complete with white accents and blue stitching. You’ll also find specialized floor mats, cargo mats, and key gloves. The best part is all of these features are part of the standard package. You’ll also get a luggage set from Zero Halliburton that has Lexus logos. These are all pretty cool parts of the Lexus SUV perks and are specific for the Black Line trim for the RX. Not only that; you’ll join a select few who will be able to purchase this trim, making it a highly sought after vehicle.

Drive differences

Driving the Black Line trim is like driving all other Lexus SUVs. However, for the 2021 SUV lineup, Lexus made a few changes. For example, each RX350 and RX450h has a standard package that includes blind-spot monitoring and alerts for rear cross traffic. It also has mirrors that will dim automatically and have power-folding capabilities. Optionally, you can get a wireless phone charger. You’ll also need to remember that one of the packages available for the RX has been renamed. The performance package is now the handling package.

Interested? You should be. It’s one of the hottest SUVs on the market, with comparable prices for the different models, where the RX350 gas Black Trim model goes for $51,660 and the RX450 hybrid Black Trim model goes for $52,905. The prices are pretty similar, so it’s pretty much a choice of what fits your needs best.
