This Unique ‘Eunos’ Roadster Is Not a Mazda Miata (Sort Of)
You know the Mazda Miata. You may even love the Mazda Miata. But you’ve probably never seen a Miata like this one. The first generation of Mazda’s MX-5 Miata wasn’t sold in Japan as a Mazda Miata—it was badged as the Eunos Roadster. And now, a first-year, RHD Eunos is for sale in Tennessee, listed on Cars & Bids.
A JDM Miata without the Mazda badge

The Eunos in question has no Mazda badges. The back just says “Roadster” and “Eunos.” The hood has a Eunos logo instead of the iconic Mazda “M.” The steering wheel is a three-spoke racing model that says “Nardi Torino [ND].” This will easily be the most unique car at most car shows. Yet many of its parts are available off the shelf.
The big mechanical difference between your normal NA Miata and this Eunos Roadster is the Japanese-market car is RHD. Honestly, that unique configuration pairs perfectly with its British Racing Green paint. Add in a brown leather interior, and it’s both intriguing and timeless.

The car has some slight modifications. A previous owner upgraded it to 14-inch BBS wheels, which are period-correct and handsome. At around 66,400 miles, it was converted to a five-speed manual transmission. It had the clutch service done at the same time. Today, it has just 67,100.
If you’ve been thinking of a first-gen Miata, this may be the most unique one around.
