The IIHS awards the Top Safety Pick+ award to only the safest vehicles

The 2022 Chevy Trailblazer scored good marks in all of the IIHS‘ crash tests. Its available headlights are acceptable and good, and its front crash prevention scores are superior and advanced. Hence, the Trailblazer wins the Top Safety Pick+ award. So what does this mean for the Trailblazer?

Every year, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) tests a range of vehicles and determines which are the safest. They award the safest picks the Top Safety Pick+ title, and the Top Safety Pick to the second-tier safest vehicles.

To earn a Top Safety Pick+ title, a vehicle has to have:

  • Good ratings in:
    • Driver-side small overlap front test
    • Passenger-side small overlap front test
    • Moderate overlap front test
    • Original side, roof strength, and head restraint tests
  • Advanced or Superior for available front crash prevention for both the vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian evaluations
  • Acceptable or good headlights standard on all trim levels

How much does the Chevy Trailblazer cost?

The 2022 Chevy Trailblazer price starts at $21,600 for the base model. That’s a pretty affordable price, making this a great choice for anyone looking for a safe and small SUV. If you want to max out your Trailblazer, opt for the Activ trim level, which starts at $26,895. There are two trim levels in between these two bookends, including the LT at $24,995 and the RS at $26,895.

The 2022 Trailblazer gets 29 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. It has a decent amount of storage space – 54.4 cubic feet. All-wheel drive brings the price up, as do certain exterior colors. The Iridescent Pearl Tricoat, for example, will cost you an extra $645.

Is the Trailblazer a good SUV?

The 2022 Chevy Trailblazer is a great SUV. In fact, it’s ranked third in Consumer Reports’ list of subcompact SUVs. It’s behind the 2022 Subaru Crosstrek and the 2022 Nissan Rogue Sport.

The 2022 Trailblazer has a solid overall and road test score. It also has a fantastic reliability rating. However, its owner satisfaction score is just okay. Trailblazer owners are especially happy with the driving experience and the styling of the Trailblazer. They were less pleased with the comfort. The rating is just average. In addition, the value is on the poor side. Just over half of Chevy Trailblazer owners would buy their SUVs again.

The 2022 Chevy Trailblazer is a great SUV with excellent safety ratings. It also has excellent reliability ratings, making this a solid choice for a small SUV. In addition, its stylish and has enough packages to allow you to really make it your own.
