The use of Uber drivers has become one of the most popular modes of transportation. Of course, those looking for a more luxurious experience can select the Uber Black option. Sadly, two Texas women are now severely injured following a targeted attack that happened when they were in the back of an Uber Black vehicle.

The use of Uber Black drivers is often thought of as being secure

Uber drivers are all over the place in Dallas and in other major cities. Because of this, a person could call a ride and have it in a matter of minutes. According to CBS News, two Dallas women did this on December 7th. However, things didn’t turn out how they’d hoped when getting into the back of the vehicle.

The report says that Dallas police officers responded to a call about a shooting at around 5 a.m. Notably, this was on the N. Stemmons Serv Road and close to I-35 and Inwood. Once on the scene, the police learned that two women had been shot. The Dallas Fire Rescue also assisted and transported both Uber passengers to the hospital. One is said to have been in stable condition, while the other was in critical condition.

As mentioned, officials believe this was a targeted attack on the women. It is thought that this was a domestic situation and that an EX-boyfriend of one of the victims was involved in the attack. Of course, well-meaning Uber drivers don’t really have any recourse when it comes to situations like this, so there was nothing the driver could do. Luckily, however, the Uber driver was not harmed in the shooting. No arrests have been made, and Dallas law enforcement agencies are investigating.

As mentioned, there’s not much Uber drivers can do in violent situations beyond trying to speed away. However, check out this recent article on a new rideshare app that employs armed drivers for more reading.
