Two Tesla Cybertrucks Mysteriously Catch Fire in Santa Monica

Two Tesla Cybertrucks have burnt to the ground after a fire in a Santa Monica parking garage started on Wednesday, March 4.

The incident was first reported by NBC Los Angeles. The outlet confirmed that two of the EV trucks were involved after a number of videos were posted to social media of the disaster. The fire took place near the intersection of Olympic Boulevard and Cloverfield Boulevard.

It’s yet to be confirmed how the fire started. The trucks were parked next to each other and sustained huge amounts of damage after the fire started ahead of 3:30 p.m local time. They weren’t plugged in to charge.

Fire crews quickly responded to the emergency as thick black smoke was seen bellowing into the sky from the EVs. This was confirmed by NBC’s aerial footage from NewsChopper4. Footage from Santa Monica Daily Press also showed the severity of the situation.

No one was injured according to reports, and the fire department was able to extinguish the fires quickly.

The Cybertruck model has a history of setting on fire. In November of 2024, a Cybertruck in Piedmont, California crashed into a tree before setting on fire. There were also reports of a fatal crash in Texas where a Cybertruck left the road before hitting a barrier and catching fire. The NHTSA took notice of this but didn’t open a formal investigation.
