President Donald Trump went Tesla shopping on the White House lawn with Elon Musk sharing the vehicles’ selling points. The president, who has a history of golden motorcycles and little Mercedes-Benz roadsters, claimed he would buy one from Musk with a check. He also suggested that the Tesla CEO and DOGE head is suffering mistreatment in the public sphere.

President Donald Trump hosted Tesla EVs on the White House lawn and says he’ll buy one from Elon Musk

A video shows President Donald Trump inspecting the interior of a red Tesla on the White House lawn. “That’s beautiful!” he exclaimed as the brand’s CEO, Elon Musk, shared details about the EV. Trump told the present media members that touchscreen controls are unlike anything he’s used before. “Everything’s computer!” Trump exclaimed to onlookers.

When asked if he was going to purchase one, Trump responded that he would use a check. “I’m going to buy because number one, it’s a great product,” the president told interviewers. “As good as it gets.” He then goes on to say that Elon Musk has been “treated very unfairly.”

The president then turned his attention to the hulking Tesla Cybertruck parked just ahead of the White House. “That is the coolest design,” Trump said, referring to the controversial EV truck.

Elon Musk seemed pleased with the feedback. “We want the future to look like the future,” Musk said in support of the angular pickup truck.

Moments later, an interviewer asked Musk if he would retain his leadership of Tesla as he carries out his government initiatives. “Yah,” he shrugged in response. “He should,” President Trump added after Musk confirmed his intent to continue running the electric car marque.

Despite the brand’s roller coaster-esque stock and Musk’s problematic public image, the Tesla CEO doesn’t seem willing to relinquish the reins. When asked if his Tesla purchase would help the company’s wounded stock, Trump responded “I hope it does,” per NBC News.
