This expert believes every truck needs this cheap modification. According to him, it makes any truck look ten times better.

In the TikTok with over 14,000 views, Zach Trahan (@bevurly) mentions how factory trucks look terrible until this one modification happens.

“Here’s one modification you can do to your truck or SUV that makes it look ten times better,” Trahan begins.

Trahan reveals the modification is relatively cheap and even hints that this may be able to be done yourself.

“Let’s go talk about leveling kits,” he shares.

What Is A Leveling Kit?

Trahan believes that leveling kits are a great way to elevate your truck’s appearance. Traditionally, buying a stock truck from the lot, you’ll notice a difference between height from the back and front. The front will sink a little lower than the back for towing possibilities.

However, Trahan mentions how not all truck drivers are actively towing. Therefore, this imbalance is unnecessary. By adding a leveling kit, the front will match the rear height.

“Obviously you can see this makes it look ten times better,” he states.

Trahan explains how there are different leveling kits, noting that the majority of the leveling kits utilize strut spacers or spring spacers.

“Usually it’s a two and a half inch level. Two and a half inches is a general rule of thumb for leveling out trucks,” he shares.

He shows examples of factory trucks without the leveling kit and starts roasting them.

“As you can see, the factory just has so much rake in the front. It just honestly looks terrible to me,” he says.

When looking at a Ford F-150 with a leveling kit, Trahan is more satisfied.

“Then you have a leveled F-150 with larger tires and it looks ten times better,” he says.

Trahan mentions how the ride quality shouldn’t change when staying in the general rule of thumb — two and a half inches — with the level. Things can get wobbly when the level goes over three inches, he claims.

“A leveling kit is totally worth it and I highly recommend it,” he concludes.

Not Everyone Was Buying Into This Leveling Kit Tip

Naturally, the comments section was divided. Some viewers agreed with this take while others mentioned issues with the logistics to do this.

“I put a leveling kit on my 2022 Chevy Silverado 4 x 4. It looks so much better,” one TikTok commenter wrote.

“You can’t just run a leveling without and upper control arm, unless you’re only doing 1 inch,” another added.

“As long as you don’t run over a 2.5” you are completely fine. Never put UCAs on a cust truck and they’ve been fine,” Trahan replied back.

“And nullify your warranty. No thanks,” a further commenter countered.

Do Aftermarket Parts Void The Warranty?

When doing any modifications to your vehicle, there’s a possibility of voiding the warranty.

Warranties are given to customers as a protection blanket for anything that goes wrong for a period of time. Things that can void the warranty can include misuse of the vehicle. Typically, this misuse will be classified as activities involving off-roading, street racing, overloading the vehicle, or competitive street competitions.

Now, when taking a look at aftermarket parts and modifications, more gray area comes into play. This is because doing any modification or use of aftermarket parts can be the scapegoat for dealerships to use to deny the warranty claim. However, this doesn’t necessarily fully cancel the warranty.

“Although some dealership service managers would have you think otherwise, simply having an aftermarket part or modifying your vehicle cannot void your entire warranty,” per Edmunds

What About Leveling A Truck?

Getting a level kit would be considered a modification to your vehicle. Many have asked on different forums and social media channels if getting a leveling kit cancels the entire warranty.

“It won’t void warranties for stuff such as the engine or compartment electronics. If your shocks go out sooner those won’t be covers, balljoints, tie rods etc. The magnuson moss act protects us from dealerships just voiding warranty. They have to prove the aftermarket parts caused the failure,” one shared.

“The only thing a leveling kit would void is that part of the suspension. If your tie rid ends, or ball joints prematurely wear out, they wouldn’t cover those parts. They would say that the damage was due to stress caused by the leveling kit. They have to prove your mods cause the problem,” another revealed

Per Moss-Magnussen Act they can deny claims on the warranty of your modifications that were associated with the part failure. So basically they could say suspension work is not covered,” a third added

Generally, the consensus is that getting a leveling kit will not void your warranty entirely. However, if any issues arise with the suspension, this may be used against the claim.
