Florida man feels scammed after financing an entry-level Toyota RAV4 for $63k
Millions look for the best cars and SUVs to buy each year. Many of these buyers will consider Toyota vehicles as they offer long-term reliability. However, one man is accusing a Florida dealership of scamming him after his interest rate made a Toyota RAV4 far more expensive than it should have been. Not only that, he is also saying they used misleading practices.
The Toyota RAV4 is one of the automaker’s most popular vehicles
Recently, a TikTok user named Jonathan Diaz took to the platform to share his experience buying an SUV. Notably, he’s standing in front of a Toyota RAV4, and he uses a text overlay that tells viewers that the SUV is “worth” $63,000, which is quite a bit for vehicles from the automaker of this caliber. The man started his video by discussing foolish financial decisions and then said this was his.
For context, his vehicle is a 2024 Toyota RAV4, and he says that he purchased it brand new a year prior to recording the video. As is the case with most Toyota vehicles, Jonathan goes on to say that he adores the SUV and that it hasn’t presented any mechanic issues. He also highlights that it’s the entry-level RAV4 and not one with all the bells and whistles.
From there, he begins to explain the issue he’s facing with one of Toyota’s most popular vehicles. The man says he put his trust in the dealership’s salespeople. Sadly, he drove away with a 14 percent interest rate as well as a few other things that they “snuck” into the contract. Regarding his payments, he forks over about $800, and the agreement is for 72 months. The dealership he went to is West Kendall Toyota in Miami.
The TikTok user went on to say that he had a trade-in and used that as part of his down payment for the RAV4. However, the man also explained that the dealership opened a credit card in his name. Specifically, he says it’s a “Toyota downpayment credit card,” and he had no idea about it until recently. Ultimately, he reiterates that he loves Toyota vehicles and is only upset with this specific dealership. This makes sense as the automaker has some of the best cars to buy. Currently, there are over 7,000 comments on the video, with many saying the man should have read the contract.
