Buyers looking for cheap cars with low maintenance should consider these 6 automakers
People looking for the best cars and SUVs to buy have several options. Drivers can go for luxury cars, or they can go with something a bit more familiar. However, many are in the market for a vehicle that’s not too expensive and won’t rack up pricey repairs with auto mechanics. Luckily, experts say there are six automakers that buyers can count on to check these boxes. Naturally, many of the best vehicles come from Toyota.
Nissan, Toyota, and Honda vehicles are among the best
Recently, GO Banking Rates spoke to multiple experts about the rising cost of the best cars and SUVs to buy. Specifically, the outlet wanted to know which automakers have low sticker prices and inexpensive maintenance. First, they said that Toyota, Honda, and Nissan vehicles easily fit the bill. Of course, everyone knows that Toyota and Honda models are reliable, but the expert, Chris Pyle, from Just Answer, had more to say.
According to him, “These manufacturers still offer their lower-cost vehicles with some basic amenities to make the cars affordable, and there are still car owners that do not want or need all the extras cars come with now.”
Regarding vehicles from Toyota, Honda, and Nissan, Chris says buyers should stick with sedans and small SUVs if they’re on a budget. It’s also important to note that these vehicles have lower depreciation rates than many of their rivals.
Some of the best are the Toyota RAV4, Toyota Corolla, Nissan Altima, Nissan Rogue, and the Honda Civic.
Chevrolet makes some of the best cars and SUVs to buy
Like Toyota vehicles, the Chevrolet lineup is pretty diverse. This means they have models of various price points, with some being ultra-affordable. The good thing is that, for the most part, buyers with smaller budgets can count on reliable vehicles that don’t require many visits with auto mechanics. One of the things that makes Chevy great is that many of its entry-level vehicles have competitive features and technology.
The best are the Chevrolet Trailblazer, Trax, and Malibu.
Kia and Hyundai
Most people don’t put models from Kia and Hyundai in the same conversation as Toyota vehicles. However, they have some commonality. This is because both automakers are known for offering affordable vehicles. About Kia and Hyundai models, Chris Pyle said, “I would not say they are high quality, but they are good quality.” He added, “I would stay away from the cheapest models, though. They are made cheap to be affordable but are plagued with problems.”
The best are the Hyundai Elantra, Hyundai Tucson, and the Kia Sportage.
Ultimately, buyers have to do the proper research on any vehicle they’re considering buying. This includes inspections, test drives, and getting the full history of the car.
