1. We will jump right in with the Toyota Tacoma SR. This is the base model, and it begins at about $26,250. To our surprise, it comes standard with the 3.5-liter V6 engine with 278 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque.

It doesn’t come with the option of the 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine with 159 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque. But you can select two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. This option is available with the double cab or access cab. You can also select the five-foot or six-footbed.

The base model features a 7.0-inch display. You also get standard forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and adaptive cruise control. It’s a pretty good bargain.

2. Next up is the Tacoma SR5 trim, which starts at around $28,040. It comes standard with the 2.7-liter engine and is only available with the 2WD access cab and six-footbed. It can tow up to 6,700 lbs and carry a payload capacity of up to 1,685 lbs.

This model includes a few more convenience features, such as an 8-inch infotainment system. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard. You can upgrade the tech to include Wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, lockable bed storage, a 120v bed outlet, and more.

3. With the Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport for about $33,160, you get upgraded looks. You get body-colored bumpers, fender flares, and a non-functional hood scoop. It also includes 17-inch wheels with street tires, a sport-tuned suspension, and a front air dam.

It’s only available with the 3.5-liter engine, but you can choose between 2WD and 4WD. The access cab, double cab, five footbed, and six footbed are available too. This model can tow up to 6,800 lbs and carry a payload of up to 1,525 lbs. Reasons to choose this model include the upgraded suspension for a better ride quality.

4. The TRD Off-Road model starts at about $34,141 and includes off-roading goodies such as Bilstein shock absorbers, a locking rear differential, crawl control, multi-terrain select, and 16-inch wheels.

This truck features the 3.5-liter engine and is available with the 2WD double cab, five-footbed, 4WD access cab, and six-footbed. Optional goodies include heated seats and an upgraded audio system. The main reason to go with this option includes the more durable suspension upgrades.

5. The 2022 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro is expected to begin at about $44,175 with its new shade of Electric Lime. It’s the most expensive Toyota Tacoma trim, but it’s the beefiest off-roading trim.

You get a 1.5-inch lift on the front and a 0.5-inch lift on the rear with Fox internal bypass dampers with the Pro. Rear remote reservoirs are also included. Plus, the new forged aluminum upper control arms help make the most of the increased stroke provided by the lift. It rides on 16-inch TRD Pro wheels that are wrapped in Goodyear Territory all-terrain tires.

You get the TRD cat-back exhaust, a larger anti-sway bar, and unique styling cues such as TRD seats, mats, shifter, and more. It’s only available with the 3.5-liter engine and with 4WD. But you can get it as a manual.

You get wireless phone charging, the best sound system, and the best entertainment system available. It’s only available with the 3.5-liter engine, but you can choose between two and four-wheel drive.

The Limited is available with the Nightshade Special Edition package too. It includes 18-inch dark smoke wheels, black wheel locks, lug nuts, exhaust tip, fog light bezels, unique badging, black door handles, and carbon-style black grille.

7. The 2022 Toyota Tacoma Trail Edition is new, and pricing for it hasn’t been released. It’s where off-roading capabilities and luxury combine. The front end has a 1.1-inch lift in the front and a half-inch lift in the rear.

You get unique 16-inch bronze wheels wrapped in all-terrain rubber, and the carbon-style grille features bronze lettering. It’s available in the 4×4 double cab configuration with the V6 engine. A rear spacer between the rear axle houses and leaf springs enhance its off-roading angles.

The locking rear differential provides extra traction, and TRD Pro skid plates protect the undercarriage. The tow package comes with all V6 models and includes trailer sway control, a Class IV towing hitch receiver, engine oil cooler, 130-amp alternator, and more.
