There’s a Toyota Tacoma for Everyone

It’s been said that the 2022 Toyota Tacoma can be had in more than 30 different configurations.  While that might be a bit of a stretch, this is a midsize pickup truck that brings several trims and a variety of options to give you the truck you want to drive.  This truck can be had in so many different ways that it could fit into nearly every lifestyle to be a truck you love to drive and trust every day.  Let’s take a look at a few of the variations you’ll find.

The base version of the Tacoma is the SR trim in the Access Cab build with the base powertrain.  This is where it all begins, with a truck that doesn’t have much but could be right for you.  Kelley Blue Book tells us this truck offers:

  • 16-inch steel wheels
  • Air conditioning
  • Cloth upholstery
  • Forward-collision warning
  • Automatic emergency braking
  • Pedestrian detection
  • Automatic high beams
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • 7-inch infotainment screen
  • Apple CarPlay/Android Auto
  • Three USB ports
  • Six-speaker audio system

The base powertrain brings you a 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission to give you 159 horsepower and 180 lb.-ft. of torque.

If you drive this base model, you’ll have 20 city/23 hwy mpg with an RWD configuration and will see a starting price of $26,500.

One step up to the Tacoma SR5 makes a world of difference

When the base model of this Toyota midsize truck isn’t enough for you, the SR5 trim is waiting to give you more for your drive.  You’ll see several features added to the mix and know that you can enjoy different cab configurations with this single step upward.

The SR5 Tacoma offers you:

  • Leather-wrapped steering wheel
  • 8-inch touchscreen
  • 10-way power driver’s seat
  • 16-inch alloy wheels
  • Rear parking sensors
  • Blind-spot monitoring
  • Rear cross-traffic alerts

When you move up to this model, you can have the benefits of more power.  This means checking the box for the 3.5-liter V6 engine, which brings 278 horsepower and 265 lb.-ft. of torque to your drive.

RWD models with the V6 engine return 19 city/24 hwy mpg, while AWD versions give you 18 city/22 hwy mpg for your drive.  If this is the right choice for you, the price you could pay is $28,490.

The 2022 Toyota Tacoma Trail Edition is a model you don’t hear about often

Mostly, we commonly know the lower trims and the TRD models when it comes to the Toyota lineup.  That being said, the Trail Edition model is based on the SR5, and it adds a few items to give you a different look to your truck.

The Trail Edition model adds bronze-finished 16-inch alloy wheels and a Lunar Rock color, which is an incredible gray color.

There are three models of the Tacoma that wear the TRD badging.  These three are TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, and TRD Pro.  All three of these versions of the Tacoma bring you the power offered by the 3.5-liter V6 engine and can be mated to a six-speed manual transmission if that’s what you would like to use to shift gears.

Looking at these three trims, we see:

TRD Sport

  • 17-inch alloy wheels
  • LED daytime running lights
  • Dual-zone automatic climate controls
  • Smart Key with push-button starting

TRD Off-Road

  • 16-inch alloy wheels
  • TRD off-road suspension with Bilstein shocks
  • Multi-terrain Select system
  • Off-road information in the driver’s display

TRD Pro

  • 4WD Double Cab configuration only
  • Black 16-inch TRD Pro alloy wheels
  • Fox internal-bypass dampers
  • Rigid Industries LED fog lights
  • Extra-high suspension

When your plan is to take your Tacoma out on the trails, you’ll want one of the TRD models of this midsize pickup truck.  The TRD Sport could cost you $33,610, the TRD Off-Road will require $34,890, and the TRD Pro comes in at $44,075.
